Welcome. If you come to visit for the first time and have some questions feel free to ask. PM someone if you like but don't stay a stranger. We were all in the pit. We know a way out. No condemnation and no hammers. Just ask and prepare to make a load of friends.
Have you heard from Beth, lately?, she was a mutual friend.
I make mistakes and have actually gotten in the habit of saying I don't know, instead of trying to be all things to all people. Sponsors are people in recovery also growing up. We have our stories , and the rest I feel is in the hands of our Higher Power. My sponsor told me when I first was asked to sponsor someone, don;t be afraid to look like a clutz your human and this is just another part of your recovery as you cannot get anyone sober or drunk.
I am still working on getting it..LOL but today sponsoring is very easy for me as I do not have any answers.. I have a book by Father John Doe written in the 30's called "The Golden Book of Sponsorship" its a series of 12. When I read it I was amazed, thought it was going to tell me how to be this super sponsor... What it says basically is everyone should sponsor, there is no Golden rule the less you interject the better. That all we have to give is our Stories, the rest is a simple program ...Trust in God, Clean House, Carry The Message. Anymore than that we get into troubled waters.
