No one welcomes pain with open arms,but it does have its uses. Just as physical pain serves as a warning that we may be suffering a bodily illness, so can emotionial pain be a useful sign that something is wrong-as well as a warning that we need to make a change. When we can meet pain without panic, we can learn to deal with the cause of the hurt, rather than running away as we did when we were actively addicted. Can i bear some emotionial discomfort? Am I less fragile than I once believed?

That's just it Billy, if something wasn't pleasing, I didn't do it. If I felt icky, I drowned it. If I didn't want to do something, I didn't do it. I would not tolerate feeling any feeling other than "happy".

The greatest realization though is that once I suffered through the horrible "ickys" in the first couple of months, things got infinitely better. It's just making it through that "emotional discomfort" for a short while is so worth a much longer period of time being truly happy.

My problem was I always gave up too soon...until this time. Gotta to through the not so fun times in order to reach the fun times. It really is like childbirth, go through the pain, struggle, fight, grin & bear it and you will find joy when it's over. :)

Yeah, emotional pain is a sign of needing change in one area or another. I drank as to not feel and those days were filled with pain and sorrow in the worst way for me. If and when I feel depressed I can know it won't last along with being able to feel the growth and be better for it.

Oh isn't this reflection the truth. When emotional pain arises now, I know there's work to be done.My journey has given me the growth and tools needed to recognise when change is needed. Faith and works Billy. :}

I had no idea how much emotional pain I could stand!! My threshhold for pain has been lowered significantly through time and trial by fire.

Through all the years and even at times today, there hasn't been a time when the solution was not presented to me. When the pupil is ready, the teacher appears. Sounds so simple, huh?
