We hear often in the program that pain is the touchstone of spiritual progress.We eventually realize that just as the pain of Alcoholism has to come before sobriety, emotional turmoil comes before serenity. We no longer commiserate with all people who suffer,but only with those who suffer in ignorance-those who don't understand the purpose and ultimate utility of pain In Proust's words, "To goodness and wisdom we make only promises; pain we obey".Do I believe pain is God's way of trying to get my attention?

I think God gets our attention with lessons we must learn in this life. Sometimes those lessons can be painful.

Now I do, took a fair amount, but he finally got my attention. I'm leaning towards that more now Billy, that my hurdles in life have been my tests, lessons to recognise my shortcomings etc, and I know I've grown through each one. Also that God sends these pains to us, so we can in turn, help those who suffer similar pains. I know not all pain and suffering is my fault, but how I react is the key. Yes, he got my attention.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
