aa friends Community Group
Welcome. If you come to visit for the first time and have some questions feel free to ask. PM someone if you like but don't stay a stranger. We were all in the pit. We know a way out. No condemnation and no hammers. Just ask and prepare to make a load of friends.
Thy will be done, not mine :)
Someone asked me WHY I see things differently, and I honestly can't explain it. I just DO! Am I more sincere than I was years ago? I don't know... thought I was sincere then as well.
I think the greatest thing in my favor is that a lot of my fear has been lifted. Truly by the grace of God because for years, although sober and working the steps, and active in service, there was still that underlying anxiety. I couldn't fully devote myself the way I wanted to. Too afraid.
I volunteered to be on a committee this week to assist in coordinating a county-wide AA picnic. I walked into a room, thinking I wasn't going to know anyone, and I did it without any fear. If you knew me not too long ago, just the thought of doing it would have caused extreme anxiety.
God has been awfully gracious. I was sharing with two of my friends a couple of days ago that I am grateful for my relapse. Had I stuck around AA, stuck in an awful relationship, and filled with fear, I'd be just another AA plodding along, going to meetings, and just not drinking a day at a time. An oldtimer, yeah. But big deal! We see how some oldtimers can be. {wink, wink}
This time I'm feeling it and seeing it differently. As my buddies Bill and Rich say all the time... "God is good."
