Just got back form Asheville it was a gas Rafting , two BBQ and 9 people speaking 20 minutes each on their experiences, with taking the 4th step and the benefits since they've done it. About 150 people there and several states were represented. Fellowship, fun and lots of Experience, Strength and Hope. I feel much better after a tough week. , an now a new online home group. This group I think wlll be helpful to us all

Well, it sounds like a blast. I love roundups and conferences because you really can see how huge our fellowship is and that around the world, millions of people just like you and me are getting well with AA.

Just wondering what gas rafting is. Is it white water rafting or something more celestial? lol

lol! I think Billy boy was trying to say that rafting was a gas...meaning he had fun rafting... hee hee...correct me if I'm wrong Billy.

P.S. I heard glad2be has gas..(you'll never live that down sweetie) lol! :)

OK, I had one of those brain farts. keeping with the spirit of glad2be. lol

You know holycrap, the eighth dwarf was named Gassy. Alas, Gassy found himself on the Disney cutting room floor. I also think "Boozy" should have made it into the final cut.

Hey, and some of the older members were measuring their food with a scale. Dedication to their program , It was a mixed bag and everyone was getting along famously

If I could say one thing to newcomers besides the basics which I will get to later; it would be this: At every opportunity go to every picnic, camp out, BBQ, holiday party, pot luck, roundup, retreat, dance offered by the members of AA that you possibly can make. These events will demonstrate that you can have loads of fun without drinking and you will make friends you never thought possible, learn things you never knew and do it all while staying sober.
Eat like a pig, dance like no one is watching and laugh like there is no tomorrow!

In other words besides going to meetings working the steps get involved in the social aspect of the program.

Oh I have to say, this thread may me laugh. First up I thought you left the N off Ashville until I saw you typed it again lol .... hang on, I've got to gather myself, I'm pissing myself laughing here..., then I saw Bato's "gas rafting" lol, that'd make you shoot the rapids faster lol.... then Shelly trying to explain it ha ha etc etc. Okay, wiped the tears now. Oh yes, we are a happy bunch lol xxx
