I was told when new that the journey from the head to the heart is the longest 18 inches in the world.

I tried to intellectualize this program when new and it can't work that way. Once I surrender and the light bulb goes off over my head, it's into my heart to stay. Reaching out for help or to help another is the purest form of humility. Also, the ability to say "I don't know".

Yes, lovely, I didn't know the difference between humility and humiliation when I first got sober so I baulked at the word humility. I had suffered al sorts of humiliation in my life - right through my childhood and the many humiliations, and even humiliation and even degradation as a woman blackout drikning alcohoholic.

But I was to learn that humility was whole different kettle of fish. It's about seeing ourselves exactly as we are - no better or worse than anyone else. - all the strong chanacter traits, which need to be nurtured, and the begative traits which need to be faced, accepted and worked on for the rest of our lives. It s pretty cool deal hey??
