The location of the store where you shop can make a big difference in how much you pay for things. If you don't like standing in long lines, know the times of day when stores are the busiest, and shop before or after those times.

Store brand items are often of the same quality as the name brand products, but at a lower cost. This is because manufacturers spend more money on advertising and packaging for the name brand items. One good example of this is batteries. In the U.S., there are only a few major battery manufacturers, including Duracell, Energizer/Eveready, and Rayovac, and they make nearly all of the batteries you will find in stores in the country, whether they are name brand or store brand batteries. So you can spend more for Energizer or Duracell batteries than you would for CVS or RiteAid batteries, but they are essentially the same batteries. The same is often true for other products, such as potato chips and liquid laundry bleach. You pay more for a product that is heavily advertised, but you may not get any more value for your money.
