For those of you who are or may be considering looking for a job, do you have three or more people you can list on employment applications? If not, please tell us, because there may be a way some of the people in this group can help you.

Ive been really unlucky in this area...
The first job i had for 5 years is now closed down (82-87)
The job after that.. 1 year.. now closed
The job after that the pple have left, retired, some died
The next job i do have a reference, so thats 1
So i then applied to work in a thrift shop to get experience of shop work and to get a reference.. guess what? The thrift is closing down, i went away on a 3 day break and when i got back the manageress had left to work in another branch!
I had printed out a bunch of cv's with her name on, now i have to re do them with the deputy manageress who kindly offered me a reference!
So i have 2!
I dont think you can help me, different country.

Empathy66, we actually can help you if you like. I can promote you to administrator in the group, and ask you to start six discussion topics over the next six months, or one discussion topic a month for six months. The topics can be simple, as for example, asking the group a question, and then people can answer if they want to. I will then make a job description for your new volunteer job. I can send you my phone number in a personal message to you on this website, and when you feel ready, you can call me. We only need to talk by phone once for a few minutes. That way you can have a third reference for employment applications.

thank you, i appreciate the offer, but i cant see that if i go to an interview they are going to ring from England to someone in America who doesnt know me personally and take take their word that i am a good worker, trustworthy etc..
i did think after that i could still put the manageress down, i just need to find the phone number of the branch she's gone to.
