a knock a smile and a tea bag Community Group
females needing ,female friends. when we are all sitting alone in our homes if we are single or with a partner it can be hard not having a friend to knock on your door with a smile and a tea bag to say hiya . hows you. hows it going. maybe we can all meet here .its a start to making new friends. there are some lovely people on here in the same boat as me. here is to...
I too live a life largely devoid of female friends. I am 44 and used to have oodles of female friends in my primary school, secondary school years and in my 20's. But my own alcoholism destroyed a lot of that, even though I have been sober now 12 years in AA and did all the amends as part of the the AA process. I also suffer several serious life threatening mental illnesses and have lost most friends due to that (even friends from early recovery in AA who I thought would be lifelong friends), due to the stigma and fear around mental illness and also the lack of preparedness to stick by me in what is going to be a lifetime struggle. One girlfriend of 30 years with whom I've had a lot of mutal support and love, and lots of fun over the years, just couldn't stick with me as it was too much effort and she made it clear she kept expecting me to magically not have my illnesses - real delusion. But of all the friends I have lost, strangely, I think of her the least and miss her the least - some friendships have an arch in our lives and are meant to have an end date.
Humans are pack animals and we thrive most in the middle of the pack and thrive the least if we are isolated on the edges of the pack, which has happened to me. So this new group should help.
I'd really like to chat about silly girly stuff, serious girly stuff and stuff that's not related specifically to women at all. We are greater than the sum of our parts.
haylewis, I noticed from your profile you're in the process of losing weight and WOW have you made some big inroads, that's very inspiring.
I've always had weight issues but one of my illnesses is Bipolar and when I started on mood stabilisers 8 years ago I was 60kg - perfect for me. The mood stabilisers, with Seroquel being the worst, pushed me up to 125kg - massive for my tiny five foot one frame. I have begged my psychiatrists to get me down on Seroquel and I was on 800mg and finally my new psychiatrist in my new town agreed to get me down on it. I only had to go down 100-200mg from 800mg and my appetite dropped right out - to absolute normal eating. It's great, but also sad I was on too much of the med and should never have reached 125kg. I now have permanent bone on bone arthritis in my foot due to this. Howver, I have lost 15kg (33 ponuds) within a few months without even exercising (my foot problems are preventing me, but I am working with a podiatrist to get me moving).
So I'd love to hear how you lost the weight you have to date????
i know what you mean about the weight too for every pound heavier i got i felt wider than i did tall.
