I have experienced every type of depression there is. Major depression, clinical depression, situational depression and Seasonal affective disorder. I currently battle situational depression from a handful of conditions and diseases that cause me severe, chronic pain and sheer exhaustion. I have lost much. Sometimes I say I have lost everything but to look at the whole picture I see that I still have 2 friends, my daughter, my parents, my 2 dogs, many online friends and much hope. I have been given a room to stay in at my friend's house and have 1 of my dogs with me. I live in a state that is sunny and hot which I love. I still have my personal and household belongings though they are in a storage unit right now. I have played the SSA's game for my SSDI for 5 years, I cannot work, I wish I could and I am frustrated with what I have gone through and still not having my SSDI and sometimes pissed.
I did lose sooooo much but I always hope for my situation to improve and for better pain management. I have a strong faith in God. He gives me the strength and hope I need to face another day. Sometimes I sit and wonder how in the world I have the peace, hope and courage I do and know that it is not of this world but gifts from God. I even have some of the lost joy returning. I know I must count my blessings, focus on the good and have a thankful heart. If I did not do this I am sure I couldn't have survived this life of suffering and loss. I also am sure that I would be sunken in the dark, dead cesspool of despair if I did not practice thought control. Good happens even in the worst and most hopeless of circumstances.
Thanks for listening. I look forward to reading your posts. : )

Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

My husband and I got our foster license last month, after 3 years of hard work (we had to start over multiple times due to family dramas and Mom's open heart surgery). We spent a year preparing the whole house, guest rooms, and children's bathroom for older kids of 7 yr old and up. Then we got a call that we have been approved to receive twin newborn premies. What, what?!! Babies!? Premies?!...

Luk 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
Much hope and love to you all.

I just read your profile page and you and I suffer from some of the same stuff. I have a stenosis in my neck, I have damaged vertebraes in my lower lumbar spine caused from a bad motorcycle wreck years ago. I have arthritis in these vertebraes as well, I have had a bad back since 1962 and it has gradually gotten worse as I grew older. I have bad knees from motorcycle wrecks, I have had so many broken fingers, toes, shoulder etc, weather changes, cold weather, etc really drive me crazy at times but, Oldbikers like me are tough, lol.
