I started with my car first I think and got the one I wanted. Then came the remodeling of my house with new wood floors through out. I remodeled the old out dated kitchen with new cabinets and counters tops and sinks, stove top and oven, dishwasher& new lighting. Then painting of my homes inside and out with the colors I wanted. Then I bought several new beautiful area rugs. Then came new furniture for den, couch ,love seat, chair with autumn, full wall entertainment center ), dinning room furniture , office furniture and my bed room furniture new ivory white sleigh bed, chest of drawers and bedside table also some new things in my sewing room and had new floor in sewing room also (not Wood) . Window treatments were next in all roomsâ also new bedding and new mattress. I have never had so much fun in my whole life. I was very happy with the decor I picked out. I hung many of my quilts that I had made on walls in every room. I had new dishes and new pot and pans. I had Apple decor in the kitchen and apple dishes. It was apple everything. My colors were red white and gold in the den, kitchen, breakfast room and living room. The rooms are all open to each other...
So my home is very much my own. I have many picture of my family my kids, grandkids. Throughout my home, I have things my friends gave me on display. All of the changes I made were good for me but my eldest son was not happy. He was a grown man and has a house of his own. But, I changed his old home place too much. Not only was his dad not here but most everything that held memories of dad were gone. Dad's chair, Dad's gun cabinet. Dad's mounted Deer heads and Dad's clothes were all gone. I did not really think about how my kids would feel about all the changes. My son said to me,â Mom you do not have any pictures of Dadâ. I pointed out to him that in fact I had more pictures of his Dad than had ever been on display before. Son just did not look in all the rooms. There are pictures of Dad in every room along with picture of all our family.
My Sons got over the big shock of loosing their father and got use my new life style and my new remodled home.
Then I got a new man another blow to my sons that they were not ready for I am not sure I was ready for a new man either but it happened. And it has been one big adjustment for me as well as my sons. Larry and I are not married but he does live with me mostly because of his very bad health that came on after we met and he was staying at my house for the summer... I became his caretaker when hid health plummeted. He is in a wheel chair he needs a lot of home health care. But to make a long story short, my home has changed once again and not for the good I might sa and not the way i really desire it to be. Now my new beautiful house has been rearranged for Larry's comfort and mobility needs for his safety. The beautiful rugs come up off the floors because his power chair would get them caught in his wheels. The furniture was rearranged to make room for his space for his nest as I call it. Room for his medical stand and small table (TV tray) his cane stand his set of drawers that hold his junk. His lamp and many other items are now every where.
The drapes are pulled back and the new blinds were taken down so he can see all his little wild critters out side through the window, like birds and cats a raccoons opossums that he feeds, and all his plants, 100s of plants that I call the jungle.
The master bath room has been fitted with grab bars and hand rails, a taller toilet and big shower chair in the shower. The master bed room is his room and there is no longer a beautiful comforter on the bed with pretty throw pillows. There are no area rugs in that room either. He canât get into the closet in that room so his clothes are on a clothes rack up against the wall in front o my beautiful quilt so he can get them. He invade my space so I have gotten my revenges LOL I took over the computer and desk in my sewing room that I bought for him. I have one just like it on the other side of the room but I took over his .It is my computer and reality my desk. It is a little irritating for him but he canât say much.
so some time you space and the things that make your home your home change and you have to adjust . It is still my home and I know Larry had to gvie up his home because it was not handicap accessable and he can not live alone because of his health issues. wWhave to give and take in life. My relationship and love for Larry is more important than area rugs , draps and the invasion of my home. But he better stop hoging the TV LOL just kidding.
