got a call for a newborn siamese mix and left text messages of ones that i've been tracking that vanished from their site, where are they?   one of them, they are going to kill at the end of the month because it bit someone.  hmmmm big cat in tiny cage, maybe its scared?  just a guess.  the bitey dog he says was adopted by someone with a chihuahua who won't mind that it bites/nips.  hope so.  it had two holds, mine and km's.  also discovered tracking through their site won't help because its two weeks behind what is actually going on?!  the company that sold them the software actually takes things out and puts it in, not the companies that buy the software.  hmmmm?  sounds like another racket?  or do they not want to have to do all that?    so what we see on their site, may already be dead or adopted. 
 
THREE of the assigned numbers for the animals didn't match anything.  two were adopted and one was killed because they needed the cage (making space).  it was killed on 9/11.   everything i inquired about had histories from 9/5 through 9/13.   not a lot of success with it. 
 
i told m that the herpes kitten that was returned to us two weeks ago, is almost healed, just slight redness/pink about the cornea of the eyes.  that is rn healing it, not me doing that one.  amazing its healing.  she used high doses of lysine (vitamin for eyes and general health) in the food, doxycycline as the antibiotic and erythromycin opthalmic on the eye itself (the terramycin was too strong and appeared to make it bleed - redness).  amazing its okay because the tissue surrounding the eye was completely popped out and swollen over the eye.   it appeared there was no eye left.  ten days later, you could see the pupils.  he is totally normal now and jumping around and playing and hugging her.  i think he is really glad to be back.  lol.   we also used warm salt water, (water with salt in it) that always works and soothes.  my grandmother used to insist that salt absorbs infection and germs (maybe it does).  soup has salt in it and so does tuna, we eat tuna sandwiches  on toast when sick.  that could be psychological though? 
 
m has a cat with uri and i was like give it doxycycline.   amoxicillin doesn't really work unless it has interferon in it.  if its a baby under six weeks you can't give it doxy, but for now, doxy is the only medicine that is healing everything.  its been like that for a few years, all of a sudden amoxi wasn't working and certain flea products stopped working.  funny how bacteria becomes immune to medicines.   all things evolve for good and for bad, but nothing stays the same and there will never be a utopia because there will alway be evolution/change. 
 
so picked up the newborn kitty and told rn i'll pick up the larger kittens from her later and bring them in for adoption.  this is the first time we are doing this, hope it works out. 
 
picked up pet supply and the manager needs someone to show kittens and dogs etc there.  i have to call her.  i have no idea who to give that to.  most people suck at sales.  everyone i've asked doesn't want it.  km was there and she is elsewhere for the passed five years and says she does well where she is.  hmmm, you can branch out and have more than one spot.  but its none of my business.  whatever.  we don't do this full time, its a hobby for us, so someone else who does this as a job.  the woman that was showing animals there, had a stroke and the other woman that collects food donations there, doesn't do sales, she does colonies.         
 
byn was at rn's drinking heavily.  he says he drank 20 beers last night, as though he is proud of this.  i said, why not drink just ONE six pack after work and for each beer you drink, have a glass of iced water.   same effect but better for you.  he says, water makes you more drunk and i'm like yeah, and it will stop you from drinking so much, that is the point. 
 
rn is whispering, he won't listen.  he's been like this for twenty years.  you'd never know it if you met him in the morning, but he has lost weight lately and gets the pink around his eyes.  he doesn't act drunk, just challenges you more.  i think a lot of shy people are heavy drinkers because it gets them to talk more.  he'll end up with liver failure and be another 40-something year old who dies.  don't mean to be morbid, but it is what it is. 
 
so i'll be upset for a couple of weeks over the one cat that i could have saved, if i knew, and i didn't save.  my idea is to pull the animals marked "large" cats, as the large and/or fat don't get adopted just as the over age five don't get adopted and the black animals don't get adopted.  adopt whatever color you want and then always ALSO get it a black friend, whether the second one will be inside or outside of your house, or in a screened in porch or separate room doesn't matter -- its better than dead.  animals love freedom and being outside anyway. 
 
so need to come up with another way of saving whatever is generally not adopted, until the law goes through (if its true that it has).  the people at the pet supply store claim free spay/neuter grants will be going through nationally.    grant-funding in each county for FREE spay/neuter.  hope its true, i didn't hear about it until i was at the pet supply place.  its already started in that area as of january - that area is about two hours south of here.  how about all the money that goes for grants for NEEDLESS experimenting/torturing animals, that same money will instead go for FREE spay/neuter and close all the labs down!  the money granted for laboratories is in the BILLIONS and that is our tax dollars funding, so it will be allocated elsewhere instead.
