You Attract What You Put Out There

A wise man JUST told me so...
Something to think about.  My only two relationships in my life were with shit, non-caring, cold, self-centered men.  What the fuck does that say about me?

1.  That I don't deserve any better....  well the second relationship fooled me.  He was all about me.  But as soon as I started questioning him about anything, he ran.
2.  In both relationships I have to admit that I did feel a little superior to the man.  That I was in a position to "help" them.  In the first situation, I was young.  He was from a working-class family in England, and I could rescue him by marrying him and bringing him to the promised land.  In the second relationship, I could rescue this man that his previous wives didn't "get".  I would open my home and heart to him and fuck the people that were always after him for money.  I could support us both.  He was my soul mate - he was my other half....
I guess what is meant by those that, on this site, say to focus on oneself before starting the whole dating thing again, should result in discovering what makes us repeat the same mistakes over and over again.  I know that I never felt particularly proud of myself.  Demanding father, a bit of a cold fish mother.  Maybe I turn to people that need me because it makes me feel "warm"?  Hmmmm.

Guess it may be time to break out the therapist...

#2 speaks of almost exactly how I felt, and I realized this very early on in my last relationship. I went through some personal emotional issues when young, and it\'s caused me to be very self-aware as I grew away from them. It\'s also, unfortunately, caused me to be very aware of others going through a hard time inside their heads, and has made me forgive things I never should have in the first place. I changed because I wanted to. I enabled these men to live within themselves and never have a need to get better.
