Yesterday was a great day

We'll we (husband, T, & I) met at the high school for T's I.E.P. meeting and ........ T will be going to the alternative on-line school that the district will pay for!  And he'll receive FREE transportation!  T looked very good at the meeting, too.  It was evident to all!  And T doesn't have as many credits to make up as we all had thought - including the staff!  So that was good news!  This was the first meeting in a long time that we could relax.  At the end of the meeting T's former tutor hugged me and said that this was nice to see me smile instead of cry!   Also at the end of the meeting - I gave the Principal another copy of my parent resources packet and an envelope with a letter of request asking if his Youth Philanthropy group would consider making a donation to the new organization I joined that raises funds for families with adolescents who need drug treatment.  He said he just met with the students and will again to find out if this is something they may consider doing.  I hope so.  After that he said he had heard that I'm doing a program at the middle school for parents.  I wish I would have just nodded and said yes.  No - I didn't. There is something about this man that makes me very nervous.  Maybe it's his mannerisms, maybe it's because he doesn't always look at you in the eye, maybe it's his size, and maybe it's because whenever I've requested anything in the advocacy area he would make it difficult for me by not responding.  So - what do I do?  I babble!  I was all over the place trying to describe what the programs were about that my husband ended up jumping in.  Oh yeah - I am going to be speaking in front of a room of 250+ people and I can't even speak to him.  LOL    I mentioned yesterday was a great day.  It was the last day of class with the little ones and I had so much fun!  I'm going to miss it.  Now that I know T is settled with transportation (that was one of the things that was up in the air) I can think about seeking work again - but AFTER my program is settled.  There are still some loose ends to contend with. Oh - I mentioned that yesterday was a great day, a few times.  Well, today?  It hasn't started out very well because T didn't come home........  He can be so arrogant sometimes.  On the other hand - he's been great with everything else.  The company he's been keeping is a good sign, too.   Well - today is early enough - and, perhaps, it won't be as bad as it's starting out to be.....

I can certainly relate to feeling relieved that all has worked out! We have our IEP mtg the end of the month, and the alternative high school is only 5 miles away so transportation (this time!) won\'t be an issue. Great to hear it all worked out for all of you! Oh, thank goodness you won\'t have to relate to the principal on a daily basis anymore. Some people are better left out of your life!

I\'m glad to hear things worked out well with the school and transportation! How old is T (if you don\'t mind me asking)? I don\'t like the Principal..he makes me nervous and I haven\'t even met him. I think he\'s one of those people your meant to completely let go of and never look at them again. :-) If you have to next time, picture him standing there naked when you are talking to him and perhaps that will help you get over his intimidation..unless that will scare you more.LOL It\'s so good to hear things are going well with T. The arrogance of our youth!!!! They all have it!

I don\'t know about you, but when my husband have good day, hell even a good couple of hours, we want to dance a jig. Good for you!! The principal at my sons\' school same thing. Don\'t let them intimidate you, with their condiscending BS. I get really angry with these people. Here we are bending over backwards to get all the help we can, and not just for our kids, and they have the B___s to sit there with that judgmental look. Are they kidding! My thing is, unless you are Jesus Christ himself, you have no business judging me! You hit a nerve, here, gee can you tell. LOL. I had out with the principal here as well as the superintendant of the school! I called to let the super know, and this was two years ago! that the kids were right out back of the school getting high first thing in the morning!! They needed cops back there as deterient. and also mentioned maybe the newspapers need to know what a farce this school district is and not all it was cracked up to be. Seems to be a media blackout here. (I left a message to this affect. I purposely did not leave my phone no. just my name). Well son of gun, he didn\'t track me down in less than 2 hours! Only to say, I have never seen any of this of heard about. So I suggested he actually leave his office to take a look on the way to cashing his taxpaper money check.

I have to apologize, this did it a cord with me. My husband and I tried so hard, and they were so dismissive of us. It takes a lot to get me going, but I guess when it comes to my kids, especially lately I feel like a pit bull.

Good luck to you, stay strong!! DON\"T LET THEM GET TO YOU!! You are helping them not the other way around.
