Yayyyy!
70 days pull-free!!
Despite having my scalp scream at me all day yesterday, torturing me with urges that wouldn't go away, I am still pull free! Very proud of myself. Hoping to continue this trend. I've realized that just because the urge is there, doesn't mean you have to pull! You can do other things to make the urge go away--i.e. mercilessly poke your scalp with something, massaging scalp, putting a hairband over it, just sitting down and thinking about it.
Before, when I used to pull, I always thought that after tugging on a strand several times, I was obliged, (or maybe the right word is allowed,) to pull it out completely because otherwise, it would remain in my scalp with a root that would have already started to come out. And since that root had already started to come out, the hair attached to it would be really fragile, weak and damaged. Now that I think of it, I used that rationale as an excuse to pull a strand of hair that felt really good in my hand. No more!
Up till very recently, my pull-free was an easy ride. I didn't feel any urges. Now that I'm stressed and my hair's grown longer, however, my scalp's acting up. So now is the time for me to really stare down trich in the face. I have to stop myself not from tugging on a strand, (since usually by that time it's too late), but from reaching up there to isolate a good strand in the first place. I have to stop associating hair pulling with states of stress, exhaustion, tension releasing, etc. I'll have to work really hard to keep up my number of pull-free days. It'll be a thought-provoking, difficult journey that requires endurance, persistence and diligence. It's okay, though. I know I've got what it takes.
70 days 70 days 70 days. I will have to celebrate with something awesome. YAY ME :)
