Writing Brings Me Peace
It has been 8 months and I still can't believe it. Like all of you ladies, I never imagined that I would lose my child but sadly that is what connects us today. I came across a quote that really spoke to me the other day..."Sometimes in tragedy we find our life's purpose." I couldn't agree more. Although losing my daughter is the most traumatic thing I will ever experience, I have to say that it transformed me into the woman I was meant to be. So many people, some complete strangers, have really become a part of my life and I am just so thankful. I have learned to finally take things as they come. I don't sweat the small things anymore. I thoroughly embrace anything and everything that life decides to throw my way. I use to underestimate my own strength but now I am amazed by it.
My mom told me not too long ago that she's always known I would be ok. She said that ever since I was a little girl I never let anything or anyone stop me. I danced to the beat of my own drum so to speak. Before I was born my mom had my sister, however, she only lived 3 days. My mother has probably been my biggest supporter, she has also experienced the all too familiar heartache that we all have. The first few weeks after Alexandria passed she was constantly by my side, she came to live with me for 2 weeks and helped nurse me back to life. During these past months not only have I begun to heal but so has she and I am so happy for that. My mom also told me that she admires me, when she said that I couldn't help but burst into tears. She told me she wishes she was as strong as me--me!
For those of you that read my post not too long ago, you know that I'm no longer with Alexandria's father. After more than 5 years of sharing our lives...our relationship came to an end. As you can imagine I was heartbroken and mostly bitter about it in the beginning, but I can honestly say I'm ok now, more than ok. I have reconnected with my high school sweetheart and I couldn't be happier. He has contributed to the peace I had so desperately been searching for. He brings me happiness and loves me unconditionally. He supports me in everything and anything I do. He loves me and I love him.
I miss Alexandria as much as when I lost her and I have a suspicion I always will. However, I've learned to live with her in a way I never imagined. She's always on my mind and will always be a part of my life, maybe not physically but in every other imaginable way.
