Writing Again

I'm not sure where, if anywhere, it will lead... but, after 3 years of literary silence, I'm writing creatively again. I'm taking it slow, one day at a time...  sometimes one page at at time, a single chapter segment, sometimes just a poignant word. Something inside me is definitely stirring, waking up. It feels strangely familiar and yet slightly alien at the same time.

I remember this process. I remember how to do this journey though a book. It's interesting how it all comes back to me, once I get rolling on the keyboard. But while the process remains the same, the emotional feel of it is not similar to the last few times at all.

I feel like a completely different author, a new voice is writing now... it's not the same person, the same spirit, who wrote the first 3 novels a few years ago.

Could it be that my rosacea experience has changed me that much? Illness and upset can profoundly affect one's mind and soul. It's very human to be broken down and broken open by those types of events.

Has the move across the country and into a  new residence (with its own unique vibes) altered my outlook and internal voice? I've often described St. Louis as very "water and earth," for its predominant energetic makeup. Atlanta to me feels substantially "earth and fire." Even the soil here is red.

Does seeking the literary experience purely for the sake of itself, and not for the outcome, change the way one writes? At this juncture, I'd say it probably does.

However, to be completely transparent, I really can't answer these questions with any sort of certainty. All I do know is that after years of dormancy, I'm active again with a digital ink flow of words to page.

Good to hear from you again. Good luck with your new venture! The kids on this site need advice, but aren't getting it from the other young people. Any ideas?

Good to be posting again. Life is trying to calm itself down after the storm of the move.

In regards to your question... I'm not sure at all what to suggest. Sorry. It does seem like the site is a bit on the quiet side. What are your thoughts?
