Wrapping

My GD's birthday is this coming Sunday. She will be 2 years old. I feel close to criminal for getting her clothes for her birthday, but she and her brother already have more toys than all their ancestors put together. Clothes it is. I just finished wrapping and packing the gifts. I will run it to the Post Office after it opens in 2 hours. Yesterday's Skype session with Hubs and GS was largely dedicated to explaining to 4 year old GS why I wasnae sending presents for him. No, dear, not even one. Your birthday is in July. Sunday is little sister's birthday. GS liked the idea of having a birthday, but he was reluctant to let himself be 5 years old. Being 4 is just too much fun. The eternal dillema. Everybody wants to live a long life, but nobody wants to get old.

The contractors appeared for a short time yesterday to test the rented backhoe which still sits between their dump truck and the pile of wreckage that was the old outbuilding. Prayers in progress that the end of the holidays will hail the beginning of work in earnest on the aeroponics lab. January 20th is the contracted deadline for the building's completion. It isnae a complex building project, but it's time to get going. God's will be done.

I feel a bit cruel for scheduling this job during the winter months. I am still huddling under blankets from the cold and I am asking other people to put in full work days? Br-r-r-r-r. . .

GS makes me smile~ Having laborers for in laws, I can tell you they really appreciate work in the winter, as it usually is a time that just consumes their financial resources with out any replenishment.

That would be the number one factor which keeps the sadistic feel to a bit. In addition, I also believe I am feeling the cold more acutely because it is my first winter north of the snow line in 40+ years. All of the contractors I have met so far are locals. That strikes me as another weird. Locals are the smallest minority in Boom Texas, in all its languages. The majority is from someplaces else.

I can't say i'm surprised about Texas. I can't imagine anyone born there wanting to stay there. but that's me and I've never been there. I just base that thought on what I know about texas.

My daughter promised me that she'd stay 3 forever. She LIED. ***pout***

In the start of winter, 45 degrees feels like freezing and the winter coats come out. Springtime warms up to 35, and everyone's out in short sleeves.

My in-laws, husband, sons and grandchildren were all born there. I still haven't found the crowbar big enough to get them out of there. I tell my fellow wanderers I was captured by a band of Wild Texans.

I miss the Texas I wandered in to 40 odd years ago. I am achingly tired of the Boom stresses and it has been years since I haven't felt like I was jumping into an acid bath when I go back there. Zoom zoom. . .
