Wow
Good Morning World
you all know I joined daily struggle a week ago, and I love it with all the support and caring people on this site, but we are on here due to the fact we all have problems and issues we are dealing with in our life, there is a young man who reached out to me in my inbox stating he was going through depression, and gave me his number, because he stated it’s hard to talk on the site, so I reached out to him to, at first it was okay, he sent me a picture of how he looked so I would know who I was talking with, than he asked me for a picture, I thought it was only fair so I did, but as we talked i realize he was more interested where I am from, how old I was, and how pretty I was, so he asked for another picture of me, and I told him that was making me uncomfortable, he quickly said it wasn’t his intention. So we continued to text, and I asked why he was depressed, and he told me, I tried to encourage him and all, after talking maybe 20 minuets later he texted and stated I sure would love to have more pictures of you !!!!!!! Smh I thought reaching out to help and listen to a fellow person was a big mistake..... lesson learned

wow, that is scary. Never, ever give your number out on this site. From the first sentence, I had red flags waving in gale force wind. You never know if that picture was actually him. I find myself easier to open up on this site than talking to a person. You are smart to not go any further with him. Yes, lesson learned. If something does not feel right, then listen to that feeling. Take care
This is an Online Support site, giving out personal information to strangers is never a good idea, and it's not a practice that Daily Strength advises.
Yes there are some of us who've known each other for 8 or 9 years who email each other and such, but we've known each other a very long time. I would not give anyone who asks you for your cell or email that information. They can talk to you through messages provided on the Site. Once your down the road a ways and you've made lasting friends who you've gotten to know, you may want to share an email address, but still be cautious.
Take care,
kat
Scary! It's always better I think not to give out personal info.\pictures on these sites. Don't beat yourself up over it though; just learn. Blessings.
does your phone have call blocker? I would block the dope
It was an innocent attempt on your part to be helpful. But over years and years of being on these kinds of sites, I learned a few hard lessons too. I don't give out any personal info I'm not comfortable with, no pictures, phone numbers, address, etc. I prefer the anonymity so I feel safe, as much of my stuff comes from abuse. I was bullied relentlessly on a 'so called recovery site' by a few men who I didn't respond to in the way they wanted me to, and they made it their mission to run me down and make fun of me on that site. Yes, it happens, and fortunately that site was closed due to all the malicious activity it had digressed to. Really sad, but for your own safety, I would keep your personal contact info to yourself. Not everyone is honest as you found out, you were getting hit on by a member, it was happening all the time on that site I mentioned. Don't beat yourself up over it, but thanks for the warning.
This is such a great site. Please don’t give up on it. It has been a life line for me.
Hopefully you don’t have any more problems. I have also received a few messages from men who think this is a dating site. I’m not sure how they get that impression?
