working, swimming, climbing,reaching, searching
That title about covers it! Yesterday I was gifted a day off by the powersthatbe, oh thank you, and I was able to hoist myself high above the annual February SLUDGE, and actually get something done! Lately, I've been wallowing in self-pity and seasonal affective disorder... come home from work, stuff face, and I do mean STUFF FACE, and then my blood sugar must crash, because I head straight for the couch and the pillows and the blankets, and I am DONE for the evening, I don't get a thing accomplished at home!
But yesterday was a new beginning... right? Right.
I have the next 3 days of work to get through, and then WEEKEND!!! It's actually lovely to have things to look forward to... I never EVER figured that out before, to actually look AHEAD on the calendar... TO PLAN for stuff, to anticipate... to look forward to... That is all new to me.... I think with my addictions, I only ever looked as far ahead as the next drink, or the next binge. Wow. That's it. In a nutshell. My calendar is my friend! Everything used to sneak up on me, and I'd find myself unprepared, disorganized, and struggling to catch up. It still happens to me, I still let myself down a little, but it's a new skill, this planning and anticipating, and I'm getting better and better at it...
Strange and wonderful new things await me around every corner, in my sobriety, because I'm awake, I'm alert, and I'm receiving...
