Working out when TTC
Hello lovely ladies,
I wanted some of your opinions on exercising when TTC. I love to exercise 3 to 4 times a week because if takes so much stress away and gives me a balance. My workouts consist of runnig/jogging, yoga, calistenics such as squats and lunges and weight lifting (nothing terribly heavy). I've heard so many opinions on this like it's not a good idea or it's okay if your body is use to it or just don't overexhaust yourself. For example, my cousin who is avid runner, ran during her pregnancy and is so in shape. I also see quite a few preggo women running 5k's.
What is the general consensus on this? I've heard of so many women be so careful and still no BFP, I just want to still enjoy my life and not take away everything that makes my mind and body healthy. The only time I stay away from the gym is after my IUI, I wait about 3 days then do a yoga class to get kicked back in gear.
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!

It would not hurt to ask your RE or nurse. Mine like to say that if its something you have been doing. Keep doing it. But like you after an IUI they did not want me to do anything for 24 hours, only walking until day 3 after IUI and then back to normal. I think generally if you have been doing it all along and are not overdoing it or underweight and body fat because of it, then you should be good to keep doing what you do. I think the positive stress relief outweighs not doing it because you are TTC.
I wondered the same thing, and actually for my 3 cycles on clomid I took it easy during the TWW because I was super paranoid. Since it didn\'t seem to help I will be continuing my work outs the next time. But def talk to your RE, they will have a better idea of what you should and shouldn\'t do. I was originally told that light workouts were fine, as long as I wasn\'t doing anything too extreme or pushing myself beyond my norm.
Thanks ladies, my RE said that it was fine just take it easy during ovulation and IUI period, but then I read so many different things. I couldn\'t imagine doing healthy things for my body would hurt my potential baby. I think it\'s different if you do some crazy workouts that make you puke like some people, that would be a no no!
My RE was OK with any exercise when I was doing IUI except for the day of. For the whole process he did tell me to \"tone it down\", knowing that I am a little crazy about working out. I did tone it down and did a lot of walking instead of running during the 2WW and during my stims for my IVF. Overall, I\'ve toned down my working out and don\'t do as much as I did before to see if that would help. It hasn\'t and I\'ve stuggled with gaining a little weight for nothing, but hopefully one day it will be for something and I\'ll gain even a little more ;).
I love my workouts too. What makes the most sense to me is that around the time of ovulation and 2ww when the little spermies are swimming to the eggies, you don\'t want to elevate your core body temp to the point that kills the poor little spermies. I talked to my trainer and she said doing a lot of core and strengthening stuff on the ground could be the answer. Leg lifts, push ups, planks, etc. I also throw in some light jogging. From the Chinese medicine perspective you can do 2 to 3 short workouts a day that induce light perspiration. Once implantation occurs you should be good to go. I\'m not a medical professional though so I would still talk to your RE or nurse.
I second what snshankins said. My RE told me nothing that will raise my temp too much because it can damage the sperm/embryo before implantation. Once implanted, I hear someone (i think alana) refer to it as putting a seed in a jar of peanut butter, so it\'s pretty stuck tight after that. My RE explained it best though when she said \"don\'t do anything that afterwards you will feel bad about if you get a negative result\" So if you\'re worried it could harm anything, or if you get a BFN and wonder \"what if I hadn\'t of worked out? then don\'t feel bad taking a break.
Yes, I agree on not getting the body temp too hot, so I haven\'t been pushing myself too much. How long does it take to implant? I feel like I should know this..LOL..
Ok, I see, it\'s 6-12 days after ovulation. Sticking to light workouts then during the 2ww, I\'ll take your advice snshankins and focus on core training. Thanks guys!!
