Words with no Meaning

I have a story. Its a story about a time in my life that changed everything. It made me silent and angry, scared and alone, it made me feel guilty, ashamed and completely lost in a world I felt I had once known. Law enforcement, therapists, doctors, they all ask the one question that will never truly mean anything to them, What happened? Its that question that means everything to us. Its what we went through, the moment when we were all alone in a room with our own fears and pain. Its our story that can never be 100% similar to another. Cops, counselors, doctors, they all say that we are never alone but in a way they lie. We are alone when we cry late at night, or when we we're forced to do what we didn't want to. Yes in numbers we are never alone but in reality of when our stories took place, we we're. Our stories mean more to us then what it will to anyone else. Cops and counselors hear these kinds of stories all the time. So does our story really mean anything to them? Is our words of our pain, our sorrow, our fear meaningless to them? How can someone understand that a story about being raped isn't just a story, its not just someone re-telling a time when something horrific happened? It wasn't just a time because even though it may have happened a while ago, every night we can re-live it in our dreams. Or maybe in the middle of a crowd there will be some reminder that will send you over the edge. It wasn't just a time in life that happened, it was a time in life that in some way will never end.
