Words From a Son
My youngest son is a Police officer. He is 44 years old. I adopted him when he was 5 and, I am the only "dad" he has known. He is my wife's son from a relationship when she was a teenager. I raised him in church and he attended a Christian School until he was a freshman in high school. He graduated with high honors, then went to college and graduated there with high honors too. He married in college and his wife left him after 7 years. He got a job as a juvenile Probation Officer for 5 years then, went to the Police Academy and became a Police Officer. He became kind of bitter towards church and those who profess Christianity over the years and he does not attend church at all now, nor does his current wife. She is a nurse.
He was talking to his mom tonight and here is what he said. "I do not see very many Christians anymore but dad is the example of what a Christian is and what a Pastor should be." "He goes and helps everyone and anyone who needs him and, always has."
I was a bit shocked to hear he said that but when my wife told me, i broke down. It gets pretty lonely being a Pastor and minister at times and, you sometimes wonder if anybody really notices, especially those of your own family.
I am humbled at this statement. I thank God that I do what I do and I am able to hopefully help some and, be a blessing to people's lives.
