wondering

Although J's mysterious, extremely painful knee is still hurting, at least, he isn't needing the Vicodin as much as he did because he's out of them.  He took the last of them this afternoon, so we will see.  Starting tomorrow he'll just be taking 4 Advil every 4 hours. The swelling has gotten worse in the last few days, despite the fact he's taking something to reduce swelling.  The doctor ordered prenisone, but J doesn't want to take it, yet. That's fine with me.  One of the side effects is insomnia and he's been having a hard time with sleep.    Just wondering what he has.  I was soooo fortunate to get an appointment on Tuesday, since they weren't taking appointments until MARCH!  Maybe it was the crocodile tears?  I broke down when the receptionist told me that.   He had a better time getting up this morning - even though he woke up at 5AM and couldn't go back to sleep.   Do you know what really sucks?  He played soccer on Wednesday, woke up from a short nap on Friday only to find himself in severe pain - and it wasn't even a soccer injury! But that's the only sucky thing about it - my baby - vibrant - athletic - young - could be in for a very long haul.

Sure hope you can get to the dianosis soon! Sounds very painful and upsetting for him! You\'re being strong and caring, which he needs right now. Good thoughts your way! Hugs, D.

Hmmm, very long time for that kind of pain and swelling that seems out of the blue...not injury related. It may sound silly, but take pictures and measurements as a baseline for getting bigger/worse and track the pain scale during the day. I would think that imaging and blood counts would give some idea or at least rule out items. Hang in there -- both of you!!!! Take Care
