Women & Fitness Boxing Training - 6 Girls Only Tips to Tone Up, Lose Weight and Get Fighting Fit

More and more women are "over" aerobics classes along with the trendy treadmill scene.

Of the greater than 50 000 people I have educated Fitness Boxing to over the last 16 decades, over half have been girls. Here are 6 of my finest "girls only" boxing workout tips.

Whether you are a lady, or even a Personal Trainer who trains girls or perhaps you work out with a woman, these tips will provide great results.

One of my very best pupils, Lizzie, punches better than most men. She says she's ever been told, like most women have, to be "a great little woman."

2 - Women want to learn proper punching technique. Women are great to educate cause they arrive as beginners with "an empty cup." Men frequently "know everything," already in regards to throwing a punch. They can be more difficult to teach and they often try too hard. Ladies seem to see that it is not all about brute force.

Do your best not to force it. Just relax and master the basics of great technique. Practice slowly in front of the mirror - and you'll get fitter, faster.

3 - Women want to work their mid segments and lower bodies. A good punch means using the ideal muscles. And the ideal muscles are the legs, Abs and heart. Unfortunately too many Trainers think a punch is simply about using your arms. But the arm is just the nail, while the hips and legs will be the hammer. The hammer pushes the nail.

Practical Tip: locate your power centre - just like in yoga or Pilates. Join your lower body into the floor as possible punch. This will force those lower body tissues into action and make power.

4 - Girls do not wish to do Boutique Boxing. Girls do not want to perform Boutique Boxing or Box Aerobics. They wish to do the actual thing. Not an actual fight but they need their work out to be as accurate as possible - real sweat and actual outcomes.

In other words do not mix your boxing using too many "box-aerobics" moves such as star jumps and endless push ups.

5 - Women should wrap their hands, just like boxers do. Like men, women will need to wrap their hands correctly. This can look like a little thing, but really it is a big thing. Hands are fragile, women's more than men's. Unless you happen to be a street-fighter in your spare time, your hands are probably not utilized to punching. We spend a ton of money on training shoes, but also need to care for our hands.

Your punches will probably be harder and you will have more confidence giving you a superior physical fitness workout.

6 - Girls will need to be paired with the right partner. A big man can generate a couple of hundred pounds of immediate force in one punch. The spouse who 'catches' that punch using punch mitts (a.k.a focus mitts) will have rattled. I see this in gym classes often. Big, wild punching men attacking the punch mitts using complete power, held by a smaller female (or male) partner. That is a dangerous.
