woman who lived here before has thyroid cancer
This just seems so strange to me. It certainly makes me wonder more about my own nodules. I just found out from the neighbors that the woman who we bought our house from (we've been here about a year and a half) was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer last october. She had surgery in October, removing half the thyroid. They tested it and found out it was cancer and then they went back in november and removed the rest. that tells me that she probably had graves disease diagnosis prior to the surgery (otherwise, had they known or even thought it was cancer, they would've tested it during the surgery or gone ahead and done a TT). I just think its really strange. Just a coincidence?? Maybe, maybe not. They just concluded a research project where they had various moisture collection containers. This particular area in which we live has the 4th highest level of mercury in the falling moisture (not the streams) this side of the mississippi. Another coincidence? maybe. my neighbor was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (another automimmune condition) the same month as I was diagnosed with graves. coincidence? just seems to be so many coincidences.... definitely makes me lean more toward a TT, especially since my grandmother had thyroid cancer...

This is is so fascinating to me. I know you wrote this a while back, but wow! how strange... I\'d be thinking that too. And then I do want to ask about why you brought up the mercury? Is there a tie between that and thyroid? or autoimmune disease? I ask that because we went Salmon fishing a lot last year on Lake Michigan and I didn\'t eat a lot of it, but I did eat it (until someone told me not to because of trying to conceive and the high mercury). Well, my symptoms got really bad AFTER eating it. Maybe just a coincidence? ;)
yeah mercury is one of the triggers for graves, from what I\'ve read. I\'m not sure about its relation with thyroid cancer, though, but I\'m sure it doesn\'t help! lol That is interesting that you had bad symptoms after eating the fish. About a year or so after posting this journal a friend of mine from this area came down with a thyroid disease, too. They thought it was graves but have since changed it to hashi\'s. still, autoimmune in nature. It is pretty weird. We are probably moving for my husbands job this summer and I can\'t say I\'m too sad about it due to these \"coincidences\" you know?
