woman who lived here before has thyroid cancer

This just seems so strange to me. It certainly makes me wonder more about my own nodules. I just found out from the neighbors that the woman who we bought our house from (we've been here about a year and a half) was just diagnosed with thyroid cancer last october. She had surgery in October, removing half the thyroid. They tested it and found out it was cancer and then they went back in november and removed the rest.  that tells me that she probably had graves disease diagnosis prior to the surgery (otherwise, had they known or even thought it was cancer, they would've tested it during the surgery or gone ahead and done a TT). I just think its really strange. Just a coincidence?? Maybe, maybe not. They just concluded a research project where they had various moisture collection containers. This particular area in which we live has the 4th highest level of mercury in the falling moisture (not the streams) this side of the mississippi.  Another coincidence? maybe. my neighbor was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (another automimmune condition) the same month as I was diagnosed with graves. coincidence?  just seems to be so many coincidences.... definitely makes me lean more toward a TT, especially since my grandmother had thyroid cancer...
