With her in the forest

Blue sky, bright sun, 5 above zero, 21 below wind chill.Sounded like a perfect day for a 10k. Point Beach State Forest, with miles of trails and a regularly plowed main road has been a home away from home since childhood. The road was all mine, aside from one tour by the ranger. Running on a light new dusting of snow. Snow was clinging to the trees, and the 20 mile per hr. winds were sending swirls, and an occasional heap of snow down around me. So cold, but I love it. You feel so alive.Your spirit soars as you push your body to perform despite the conditions. Then, I said to Sharry, "look through my eyes sweetie" as I scanned every inch of that beauty that money cannot buy. I know she can see what I see, and feel what I feel. I can talk to her along the way, as I did during so many of our hikes while she still graced the face of this earth. There will be these uplifting moments that help make the pain more than worthwhile.

Inspirational entry.I as well speak to my Tim on such hikes so that he may gaze at the beauty of nature through my eyes while I am still on earth. We both had a deep appreciation for hikes and nature. While roaming the scapes alone, There are times that I feel still very connected with him and I have to admit those times are usual during breathtaking moments in nature, whether it be in the cold (-24 here in Canada, or in a warmer setting. There are uplifting moments that ease the pain and make the heart smile if only for a little while.
Thanks for posting the reminder of life\'s small wonders

Thank you Louise, I believe we are as near to Heaven as we can be during those moments. I\'m glad that you have those wonderful memories of Tim. I thought I was pretty tough, -24, ouch! Stay warm and safe.

Robert,
your entry makes me want to take a hike somewhere beautiful too, the cabin where Stevan and I and the kids would enjoyed the beautiful scenery and catching fish right off the dock. he loved it there when there wern\'t so many people to crowd us and we would sit on the dock for hours talking and waiting for the big one to hit. I can\'t wait to get up there when the snow is gone and sit on the dock fishing and talking to Stevan. You have a way of making people feel better you know :)
Peace and Love to you and Matt

Thank you for the visual. I never could run like that. Swimming laps not the same...but I could go far in the water. I am a very visual person, so your writing took me on the path to run.

As for the weather conditions? I am slightly east of you, and slightly south. Centered in the lower third of Michigan. Much of the same weather due to the jetstream, just a couple hours later this time of year. Plenty wet and snow.. Here we stay cooler longer and take longer to totally freeze, good old lake effect. Today is frigid, not even my dog wants any of it. Take care out there running my hyper-vigilant self would need a survival pack. Just in case...

Robert, That is beautiful. It made me think of the hiking and backpacking Anne and I used to do in the North Carolina mountains. We live in Mississippi so we had to drive. We also hiked in Georgia, Tennessee, Colorado, Arizona, and Washington State. We used to dream of taking our grandson hiking one day when Anne got better. After she went to her heavenly home, a close friend reminded me there are mountains in heaven and one day we will go hiking with our grandson. I can only imagine what they look like.
