Wish me Luck....

I'm leaving the office shortly as Rachel's headstone is being placed this afternoon.  I'm not sure how I feel ... I'm glad that the headstone is finally getting placed ... but so sad to see her beautiful name in stone.  It shouldn't be like this.  Parents aren't suppose to plan their children's burial!!!!  Trying to stay strong.  ~Laura (Rachel's mom)

You are so right Laura ~ parents are most definitely NOT supposed to be erecting their children\'s headstones and all that goes with that. One of my toughest moments was 2 1/2 months after we lost Corrie and we went to a memorial service arranged by her friends at Northwestern. As we were entering the sanctuary for the service we were each handed a program ~ and there on the very front of the program was a picture of our beautiful, precious Corrie with her birth and angel dates! My soul screamed out \"NOOOO ~ this is a mistake ~ Corrie\'s face does NOT belong on the program and those dates must be wrong\".

You will have the strength you need today ~ we are all with you, holding tight and sending thoughts of love and peace ~ Debbie

I understand exactly what you\'re saying. I was relived it was over...the designing, the decisions, the stressing over the stone...but god, seeing Kala\'s name....how wrong is that!! With you today as you face this challenge, heart to heart, mom to mom, Teri.

Laura,
I understand and I know it will be very emotional. There are always reminders out there that is is for real and it is sooo hard to face that. I remember when I picked up my sons ashes at the funeral home I didn\'t even cry that much at his wake. I sobbed sooo hard and I could not drive for a long time cause I could not get it together. Hugs, Inga

I hated the fact that there is a headstone needed BUT there are soooo many people that Matt knew that have not been told Matt is dead. I know that friends drop by....sometimes they leave their pictures in the urns or flowers or feathers- heck one kid left a lighter and a cigarette.

Sorry I am responding late. I lost my son suddenly too this past August.I remember when we had his guest book online and all the wonderful things his friends and family wrote. But every time I read something I just thought this can\'t be I don\'t want people saying what a great friend he WAS. I still can\'t wrap my head around it.I feel your pain and hope FMO can help you learn tools to be able to maybe not accept but to be able to live with this nightmare so your life will have some peace. Love,Laura
