Windmill
If you've fewed my vacation photos, you've seen a photo of a windmill. When I took the shot, I wasn't sure why it was there. You've got to agree, it's a bit unusual for a windmill to be across from a beach. So I looked it up. The windmill was built by the city to pump water in 1903. At the time, the city was paying a water company $4,800 a year for water for the city. It cost a little over $18,000 to build it. It pumped water from a well. It is in the Countess Wilhemina tulip garden and is a part of Golden Gate Park.
