Why the Tears Again???
I thought I was doing well from an emotional perspective, but after speaking with mom today......I broke down and cried. The tears were for mom and myself. She sounded ok over the phone, but her voice seemed pretty groggy, and sad. My family and I still have no idea when she'll be released from the hospital. Her condition is still being evaluated, and I've become an emotional wreck. I'm thankful for not crying during our conversation because that would have upset her. With all that's happened regarding her health, mom's still concerned about my well-being. She's amazing. The tears allowed me to vent my feelings, which is important, but I felt weak after doing so. Because of the new year, I hope to make some improvements....but I feel like a lost cause, or loser. Some days have been really good, but other times, it's more of a challenge finding something to smile about. It seems that when one bad thing happens, several more bad things occur at the same time. I hate depression!!! Sabrina

Sabrina,
So sorry to hear about your depression. But know that tears are cleansing and we all need to cry on occasion. I have seen your progress and every bit counts, especially the little ones. I know with the new year I thought I would have made more progress. Not falling backwards as much is making progress. Write down one thing that you are thankful for each morning and at least one thing you did right each evening. Even something this small helps - I know it helps me. Try to stay in the now (I know damn near impossible) do look back at past failures or borrow trouble from the future. My prayers are with you and just do the next right thing. Big HUGS!!!!!!!!!
Opps I meant don\'t look back at past failures. Boy once you add a comment there\'s no going back for corrections.
I\'m pretty sure that all of us in the group have had many crying spells. You are not a weak person; don\'t put yourself down for reacting naturally to a really lousy situation. You are in fact, very strong and brave. There are many adult children who have nothing at all to do with their parents once they get sick and need help. At least you are supporting your mother and not running away from wtinessing her pain. Listen, I\'ll probably be crying soon too. You are not alone.
Debbie: Thanks for your friendship, it means more than you can imagine. You\'re always there when I need an uplifting word or two.
Mugsini: I\'m thankful to have a friend like you on DS. You certainly can relate to the challenges our elderly parents are dealing with.
Angelwings: Thank you.....I suppose it\'s much better to look upwards, than down.
I know about tears we shed for our mother\'s, ourselves and sometimes you have no idea why your crying. Feel better.
Thank you Amzgrace, I do believe that crying cleanses the soul.
I hope you feel better.
