Why Taking The SAT is Important

Looking into going to college? You may be wondering if everyone has to take the SAT. The SAT  is very important for you to take. The SAT is not mandatory for every college. Each college can set their requirements. At the college of your choice, check out their web page to see what their requirements are for testing. Some do require it while others are starting to use a test-optional policy. Some colleges want to see where you're academically and by taking the test it will show them where you need to be. If you are thinking that your test score is going to be exceptionally low. You can wait and prepare more before taking the test. Taking the test is the best way to show you are ready for college and you have done your homework and have come prepared.

Why you Should Take The Test

Taking the test could give you more potential in school. If you do exceptionally well you could be awarded a scholarship. In America, every crucial university will accept your SAT. If you didn't do well in school or maybe you did but some classes you didn't get a perfect grade point average. Take the SAT and show the college you are smart and you can do it. Your SAT will be very important to have on your resume as an adult. Showing up to a job interview with very little experience may not get you in but having that great SAT score to show your college smarts may just be what helps land your dream job. Your scores in college do matter and they will help the school place you in the classes you need. You may skip some classes while others you may have to do over. The decision is up to you unless the school you've chosen mandates that you take it. Then you will need to study all you can to get a good grade. Your college should be able to tell you what the passing score is within weeks and shoot to go above and beyond.

When Should You Take The SAT

You cannot just show up and take the SAT at any given time. Colleges/Universities allow a certain allotted time for the test-taking. Some have a policy that if you show up late you have to reschedule. Research the web for the college you chose and see what times they have available that best fit your schedule. The times you may take the test are:

  • March

  • May

  • June

  • August

  • October

  • November

  • December

Most students prefer taking the test at the start of spring. Some high school students will test in their junior year and then again in their senior year. If you feel you need to get an early start on the test then you may test as early as 8th grade. The SAT will expire after 5 years. Plan ahead when taking the test. If you are involved in school activities choose a semester that is not packed full. You're going to want to designate all your extra time into your studies. It is ok to take the test a few times. Make sure you get the desired score you need. Or the score that will get you accepted into college. Just make sure you plan and prepare enough time to study, get proper amounts of sleep, and eat a balanced meal to keep your brain and body healthy as well. That's also very important for helping you take the SAT.

Why Hiring A Private Tutor is Needed

Choosing to hire a private tutor is a great idea in the long run. They are qualified to help you dig deep into your studies. If you feel you are not good at studying or even you just can't focus. They will help motivate you to keep a good study time daily. Talking one on one with your tutor is great for fewer distractions and will help you focus more on what's important. You can guarantee with a private tutor by your side you are going to improve academically. Sometimes hiring a tutor makes people feel less important thinking they are not smart and see it as an obligation.  Don't see it as an obligation, look at having a tutor is an opportunity to soar through your SAT while getting an amazing score. Everyone needs a little help or extra push here and there to help you get to the top and that is what your tutor is going to help you do so, consider hiring a private tutor that is certified to help you stay on track while also helping and advancing you in your studies. Hiring a private tutor has been known to boost your self-esteem and confidence level. It is a good feeling to walk into the designated test room being prepared.

Why Retaking The Test Is OK

If you choose to retake the test it will not reflect badly on your college entrance. Taking the test again may show the college you're not giving up with a low score and you are giving it another try. Your willingness to do it again and get a better grade shows that you have perseverance. Possibly the second time around you will improve your score and do much better. Some may not even need to retake the test. Retaking the SAT more than 3 times can look bad on your end. So don't reschedule times to do it over. Get a tutor, prepare yourself, and don't forget to plan ahead. The importance of taking the SAT is for your selected college to see your academic level and how prepared you are for college. You want to make a good first impression and this is a great start. If you don't feel prepared at all, take a semester off, and just study. Chances are by the next semester with the right tools and proper amount of study time you'll be ready to ace it.
