Why is treatment so harmful???????

Happy September to you all. Chilly, rainy here.  I am doing laundry again--sisters work clothes, which I will hang on the porch. We spent yesterday out of town.  She had to take me to another cancer treatment center. When done there, we had lunch at Ponderosa.  Good food.  We both ordered steak and buffet.  That place has the best wings.  No fancy sauce, just fried wings.  Then we shopped at Sams' Club and Walmart.  I got a giant box of cocoa mix at Sam's.  I have a mug of that every morning with ginger and cinnamon added.  Sometimes, I add Cayenne, too.Okay.  I saw the doctor yesterday.  A woman, thank goodness.  (The man seems to be sick, from what sister heard in the waiting room.)Anyway, I have reluctantly  agreed to about 6 weeks of radiation.  After she told me all the possible harmful side effects---scarred lung, weakened ribs, damaged heart, hard breast tissue, and yet more cancer---I asked her why don't they deliver the treatment in an upright position-like the mammograms are done.  She said, " Good question!  "  Said the big cities, like  Pittsburgh, do it with patient on the stomach so only the breast tissue is exposed to the radiation.  That is no help to me.So, if anyone who reads this works in treatment research, get at it!!  come up with a delivery system that does no more harm to us.I go next Friday for the 'simulation', then they will call to let me know when the real treatments start.  I won't have one on the days I get IV treatments at the other center.I begin to wonder if I will ever get another night's peaceful sleep.
