Why doesn't he get out of that chair?

Another week has passed and he is still sitting in that blasted chair.  It is beautiful outside, the temp is in the 70's and I still can't entice him out of that chair.  Baseball or Nascar - that is all I see.  Why can't I make him understand that he is giving his life away to TV.  I don't nag, but I do try to quietly encourage him on occasion to take 15 minutes and come outside with me.  He's stuck and I don't know how to help him - should I just leave him alone?
I don't think I am alone in this - I know there are other spouses out there that are as worried as I am about our loved ones.   I'm starting to get angry and this is destructive.  I try to understand how he might be feeling - the fatigue, dizziness, etc.  Lord knows I have been dealing with the same and more for years and managed to work and run a household while feeling like a piece of road-kill.  What makes me able to handle all that's been thrown my way and he has folded like a bad hand of poker?
IS THIS WHAT I HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE?
Just feeling sorry for myself - I think I'll go bake some cookies.

Hi, Madge. Only now am I able to make the time to read your journal entries of this month and, despite the late hour here (3:17 am), feel compelled to respond. Oh, how I relate to what you wrote about feeling like roadkill, a most-perfect description of a feeling for which I had no humorous term...until now! As much as I\'m chuckling over the term, which I hope you\'ll allow me to borrow, it is a serious matter. FYI - We ARE permitted to feel sorry for ourselves sometimes, everyone has that right, but we just shouldn\'t stay at our own little pity parties for one. Best to get a good night\'s sleep -- or as good a night\'s sleep as possible -- and get up the next day and tackle whatever lies ahead with renewed hope and strength, regardless of our circumstances, hard as it is...and the harder as it becomes. And, when all else fails, bake cookies, as you stated! :-) From one roadkill to another, I\'m sending you some compassion across the miles, Iris

Dear Iris, you can use \"roadkill\" all you want. Just to let you know - there are different degrees of roadkill - headless, flat, and inside-out. Inside-out being the worst, of course.

In WV we have a Roadkill Cookoff in the fall in Marlinton. It usually gets a big turn-out. It even made the Food Network one year. The bald guy that eats weird stuff did a piece on it. So how does that hit your funny bone?

I am sending the compassion back to you plus 2X more. Sounds like you have been going through hell with your mother\'s care. Know that I am with you and you are in my prayers every night.

Luv ya,

Madge
