why are there so many stupid people?
there was to be a production at my university yesterday. it was cancelled because the sponsoring department was flooded with hate mail, hate email, hate phone calls, and threats against any and everyone involved in the staging. why are there so many stupid people? if they didn't approve they had the option of not going. but noooo....they decided they needed to organise protests and threaten people and spread hate and fear and violence in the name of their god. then they have the nerve to say it'd be fine in another school or area but that the university should have considered that most in our community are conservative. WHAT!???!!? when is that an excuse for anything? might as well say big cities can have integrated neighbourhoods, but we should make sure every and any one different uses separate drinking fountains, and toilets (because don't you know homosexuality is catching). and if i hear one more person say something incredibly arrogant and ignorant about how "next they'll be sending paedophiles into elementary schools" i'm going to beat someone about the head. gay does not equal paedophile, dammit!
i really need to finish my degree so i can get the hell out of here. i swear the mass of stupidity in the air is killing my brain cells every minute i spend in this place. like i'm not deficient enough as it is. i've lived with hate and fear, but never like this. it's like a disease, like the bubonic plague, spreading everywhere and bringing death and despair to everyone in its path.
i'm scared. i don't want to have a major episode here. i've seen the hospitals. it's barbaric. i'm afraid that my car will give out on my way to school because i've seen the faces of people when i've stopped for gas in some of these small towns on my way to campus. i know what those looks mean. it is not safe for me to stop on my way to school.
ignorance and bigotry and myopia are rampant. i thought the bible-thumpers in q's class were getting on my nerves. that's nothing to compare the general attitudes of people here. they are stupid and they are sheep, content to be herded in whatever direction so long as the right "shining and inspirational" biblical phrase is used to blind them to the paths they're on. these are the kinds of people that give christians a bad name, and i feel so awful because there are ethical, faithful and open-minded/open-hearted christian people and they get lumped in with these bigoted crazies who claim theirs is the only kind of christianty that matters. pffftt! i'm so mad i could spit. how dare these callous shrivel-hearted idiots claim to be speaking for all christians? how dare these stupid people claim to speak for anyone but themselves? they say they are the "voice of the community" well i'm part of the community and they sure as shit aren't speaking for me!
