why...

I try to avoid dating sites for a lot of reasons (not very dateable/functional and tend to just stress me out more or run into aholes that just make things worse), but as I dont really have anyone else to talk to and am all alone here again...there I went.  and started talking to this guy.  seemed really nice and funny and everything, and nice to talk to...and like most of those guys that cant get a response, he seemed to enjoy talking to me too.  in fact seemed pretty crazy about me, as many do/did.  so we were talking for like a month+.  then he says hes moving, and that he was sad cuz he never met anyone here the whole time (even though we never 'met', but you know...) and was even like 'promise you'll keep talking to me after I move'.

then after a while, I noticed that I was the one messaging him, but he wasn't (unless to respond to mine).  so that kind of annoyed me, and I felt like must be bothering him or something, so I figured I'd stop messaging him and let him.  then sometimes he would, or be like "oh no, guess you got bored of me" LOL, which kind of annoyed me, since as I said, he wouldnt message me anyway.  and so I just kept being like, well I'll just let him msg me...so then itd be a week later and i'd be like well F him then, lol.  but then since I dont really have anyone else to talk to I'd msg him lol, and hed be like hey! how you been...so seemed interested, then I'd respond and hed keep asking things so seemed interested, and could talk for hours, as usual...then same thing, a week later and i'd be like well F him, i'm not gonna msg, but then I would...lol.  so anyway, thats how it went, and I guess one reason I dont just "forget about it" is that you never know when these ppl are gonna pop back up, which is kind of stressful and I dont like when ppl disappear and then pop back up....so I finally just msged him and told him he was lame. lol.  which wasnt very nice i guess, lol...but it just really annoys me when ppl act so into you and msg you all the time and then just...drift off.  especially since he practically begged me to keep talking to him, "even after he moved".  I think its pretty rude then to just stop messaging someone.  but he said he hadnt had a gf for 20 yrs, lol, so I kinda wondered, hmmm, is that why...like it seemed like he wants to be chased lol, OR maybe hes just lazy lol, which it did seem like, cuz thats the other reason it was nice talking, cuz it seemed like we had similar issues w/anxiety and functioning, and thats why its hard to just "forget it" and find someone else, cuz most cant relate and just make anxiety worse. :(

of course maybe he just wasnt that into me, though he seemed like it, at first anyway, but again you never know if theyre just pretending and cuz I didnt invite him over, then he lost interest, idk...but he kept saying he was interested in my "friendship", and thats why he kept talking....so it shouldnt matter then what you look like...anyway....its just really frustrating and depressing when you finally find someone to talk to that you like talking to and can relate to, and then they just disappear...its frustrating bc you never know why...well, thats life, I guess...guess thats why I finally got sick of it and called him lame so hed really leave me alone and not bother coming back.

The thing with social media 'keeping in touch' method is that it is much easier to send a message. Often, we expect messages back immediately, in return.

People who do not use social media to keep in touch with people generally take their time answering messages. (I'm from the party line telephone time, so I am careful to consider my message response except to a few people who I can do face time with).

Hmm. Rather than focus on the time, length, and distance, consider it an experiment in learning how to communicate effectively to remain active more frequently.

Short messages are easier to respond and move through.
