Who Woulda?
Who woulda thought? Who woulda thought I'd be in the 21st century up to my eyeballs in electronics? Not me. It all started about 6 years ago when Vickie brought me her daughter's old computer. Told her didn't want it. Wouldn't use it. She said to check out the internet. I said no way. I didn't like computers and had heard about the nerds that stayed on the internet all the time. Said that wasn't for me. Uh-huh. She said to keep it anyway. That she and I and Sara could keep in touch my email. Well, that was a reason to keep it. I'd gotten into genealogy, so I started looking into that on the internet. Now, I can't stay off the computer. That was it till this year. No more gadgets. This year things got out of hand. First, it was a cell phone. It was for my health. I have wierd working and sleeping hours and the landline phone was driving me crazy and making me lose sleep. With the cell phone, I could ignore the landline. Only my relatives, bosses, landlord, and doctors have my cell phone number. It has a strange ring that I can't ignore. Funny, I'm on my second one of them. Then it was a DVD player because all the rental movies were going to DVD. No player,,,no movies. That's all I needed. No more. Then this trip came up. Sara got the ticket on the internet and I'll get my boarding pass there too. Scared to fly so I decided I need something to relax me,,,,music,,,,soothing music. Can't take a cassette or CD player. Too big. MP3 Player. That's the ticket. Figured out how to download the music this weekend. And now, I'm sitting here with a computer medical I.D. bracelet on my wrist. What else can I get? Can't think of anything. Thank God! Guess I'm in the 21st century whether I want to be or not.

Hi Mike,
I think at our ages it is called keeping up with all of this technology. Just remember I am more than 10 years older than you are. When I retired my daughter said I needed something to keep me busy and brought me a used computer. Set me up with about 4 lines of stuff and said that was my website. I need to learn how to improve on it. I tried, I stayed up until 1:00 am, I cried. I told her I need to be doing crochet and knitting this technology was not for me.
She wouldn\'t help me. Anyway I made mistakes I cried somemore. And this was back in 1999 today I have two award winning websites.
I bought a VCR and DVD player and set them up myself.
My daughter thought I needed an iPod so I have one. I get music from iTunes but I have to pay for it. I am on my 4th cell phone. I remember how scared I was when I was introduced to a computer at work.
I think as long as we are here we may as well keep up with the new stuff. No texting for me though. my fingers are not nimble enough for that.
Yes we are in the 21st Century
What else can you get? Give a month and something new and intriguing will be out there. As long as we still have time to enjoy the smell of the roses. hugs, Sue
