Who would have thunk it...
I called my son yesterday. I hadn't heard from them since Christmas, they hadn't been posting anything on Facebook either. Silly me.... I immediately thought "here we go again", and jumped to conclusions that the X was poisoning him against me all over again. The thought of being excluded from his life once more was almost more than I could bear. (he's my only child - I almost died delivering him)
So I called. He picked up the phone and I said I was just calling to see how he was since I hadn't heard from him in a while... he immediately told me they've been busy (what else is new with a baby in the house) and then over the next 20-30 minutes, told me stories about how much the baby is growing, how she's started crawling, wants to try to stand. An AWESOME conversation. I didn't have to put much effort into it at all - he was just so glad I called! I'm going to stop by and see them Sunday (I found a couple of Christmas presents I bought back in September and forgot I had - good excuse to drop by, lol), just to spend time with them. I got a big I LOVE YOU as I hung up the phone....
I LOVE THIS FEELING. I've got my son back! And that never would have happened if I were still married to the X.

I still do that with my daughter. If I haven\'t heard from her in some time I fear she is out of my life again. I know how busy her life is and with Zoe now it is even more hectic for her. I try not to call a lot.
So finally I call and I get the same thing you do and I know my life is still good and she is not angry with me. I think the more we call and talk to them that fear of not having them in our lives will go away.
So funny about the presents. I used to shop all year for Christmas. It wasn\'t unusual for me to find a present I had forgotten about several months later. We woud all laugh about it.
How awesome is that?
I also jump to conclusions with Facebook. I need to center myself and not do that when I use it..
