Who are you?
When I was younger we would play a game called who are you? It told alot about what you thought was important. for example if you said I'm a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, christian first it said much about your priorities. I usually said my name first. Some self-esteem, huh? Now I find it is pretty healthy to be who I am. As of late, a friend of mine cannot seem to get out of her grief and depression since her husband died. O.k. , so it was more than three years ago. I asked her how long she thought it was healthy to grieve and she said a couple years so she's not stupid. She cannot seem to stop because she lost her identity. First, wife and mother, then her husbands caretaker and now his widow. How do you make someone else see how important self is? She says she doesn't care anymore and will not get out and about unless she if forced too unless it's to a grief group. It has become physicallly difficult for her to get around because she sits in front of the TV or computor and eats. I've tried to talk to her, her therapist has tried to no avail. I don't know what else to do. Who are you?

Gee Miss soapy..that is the million dollar question! One in which I have been trying to discover myself a great deal lately. I am sorry about your friend. If you can\'t help someone rediscover their self....I just don\'t know. At my 47 years I am not quite sure who I am....I no longer feel my only value is being a mother, daughter, friend. I really want to get past all the stuff and get to know who I am once again or maybe for the first time! It is something I ponder QUITE a bit.....investing so much of me into someone else...only to find myself lost and alone and lonely. When you find yourself at the Y in the road....which way to go? I once thought I loved like that...it took me nearly 5 years to recover.....what I have learned in my dusty road traveled....is I LIKE who I am...I yearn to be a better me and I am anxious that I waste time on things I can\'t change or time I can\'t get back.....I have a great need to move forward.....but in what direction? I hope that you\'re friend will find life worth living again....come from the tv......what I do know is she sure is blessed to have someone like you waiting and willing her to get back into life. Guess we all need a nudge now and then.....a reminder not to give up on ourselves, because in the end we are all we got!
Iam Irena C. ____, and my name means peace and serenity in Christ! I am a Christian who tries very hard to overcome some pitfalls and hurdles, which a part of the human condition. I am a sister, a daughter, a Mother, a Grandmother, a Wife! I am a darned good wife and sister, and was an excellent daughter to Mom, who has passed. I am a teacher, a counselor, and a student! I am a gardener, who loves to share flowers with people, and teach little children how to plant, by having them do it. I am ball of energy, and enjoy to pass around my enthusiasm, and hope it\'s contagious! I am an encourager, who likes to encourage the down-trodden. I am an analyzer who enjoys to analzye medical problems, emotional issues, and people problems. I am an observer, I like to learn how to do things better: listen to jokes, develop a better sense of humour, watch people casually exchanging ideas, communication, etc. I am a problem solver: enjoy assisting others in solving their problems. I am an animal lover: love my two maltese doggies and my two cockatiel birds.
But most of all I am a giver. I give to a fault, I sometimes give too much, possibly due to my past (insecurities and dysfunctions) and due to being a people-pleaser. I am trying to cut back, from giving physical things, and tyring to give more of myself, my time, my thoughts, my help.
And I am, now, as well as always have been:
a truth-seeker, and a truth-speaker.
Now what I want to be: is a whole \'nother topic! lol
I am also a cousin to great gals, and one of the best friends a person could ever have, due to my loyalty, openess, and forgiveness! I tend to want to maintain relationships for years!
But sometimes I don\'t apply my knowledge: that some friends come into our lives for a reason or a season. Because when that \"season\" is over, I try to extend it, to the next year! I do not like rejection, and try again!
You two are so cool. I love it to find people who are out of the fog.
Thanks soapy! This actually is a great topic for a post, i would think!
LOL....I think it is me and Blondgal who find something so great in you...like running into a mother\'s loving arms. You give to us way more than I could ever return to you! Although I would walk through fire to come to your aid! I am just thankful to have found you on the other side of the fog!!!!
