White stuff
I admit it, my name is Karen and I am a snowaholic! I am so peed off with this bloody PE, I love winter but here in the UK we rarely get any truly cold weather. Well the beginning of december was freezing for a few days, where was I? In a boiling hot hospital getting zapped with clotbuster and listening enviously to nurses moaning about how cold it was out there. We now have the worst snowfall in 18 years and where am I? Stuck inside with pneumonia and gazing wistfully out of the window at the wonderful white stuff.I do have to go out tomorrow to get my INR checked but it will be straight back home, no detours round the park with the dogs :o( We are so pathetic in this country, my friend had to walk to work in London because there were no buses or trains. Tesco cancelled my delivery this evening "because of the weather" for goodness sakes it is a mere few inches of snow which we knew days ago was coming!! I remember being a child and having real snow, it wouldbe in 6ft drifts at the sides of the roads. All the kids would head for silk hill, it looked like a mountain to us but really was a mere mound. It would look like a multi coloured ants nest as we advanced in our hats, scarves and gloves dragging various sledges behind us. For those whos parents weren't so well off, there were black bin bags. I luckily only had to use these once, I think I still have the bruises on my ass! We're definitely getting softer, in my day, oooh sounds like my nan... we'd put carrier bags over our socks before putting wellies on. This was to prevent pneumonia from some dork deciding to shove snow into the wellies (my favourite trick I hasten to add) After hours of running up the hill and coming down at breakneck speed it was back home, absolutely exhausted, sore and cold but boy did we sleep well. Well time I was in bed, I hope the snow is still here tomorrow but I doubt it. Probably just as well, I don't think the country could cope with 2 days of grinding to a halt :-/
