While you can easily see from HomeLand Arts gallery you'll find three pictures of Howth. Two of these paintings illustrate the harbour and the third painting is-of the Bailey Lighthouse, looking over Dublin Bay. Howth is a wonderful place to visit and is a good little escape for anyone spending time in Dublin City. Situated only 9 miles from town centre, it will take about 2-5 minutes to access by Dart (Dublins electric train system). You may also get yourself a coach to Howth Summit where in fact the views across Dublin bay are amazing. On a clear day you can see as far south as Wexford and seeking east you can write out the mountains of Wales. From here you can observe its view and the Bailey Lighthouse across Dublin Bay for the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains. Where the cliff walk starts our painting of the Bailey Lighthouse was decorated not far from the summit. I'd highly recommend, for everyone visiting Howth for the first time, to create their way to the peak on the 31C bus. From Howth Summit you can take the cliff walk and make your way right down to Howth Harbour. The last time I took this route it took me around 45mins to an hour or so. Their a perfect solution to lead up since by the time you get down to the villiage to lunch you'll have built up an intense desire a hearty appetite and probably! You can find no lack of bars and restaurants. Here are my favourites, using a brief description: The Bloody Stream. Positioned just beneath Howth Dart Station. My favourite day to visit listed here is a sunday afternoon if they ordinarily have a roaring fire (in the winter-time usually!). My favourite is the chowder. Findlaters. A good position during the night. The bar at the top floor has a great deck with views over Howth Harbour and beyond towards the Island of Irelands Eye. The Waterside Pub. A good pint of Guinness and excellent bar food. If you prefer to eat something bigger the Wheelhouse restaurant upstairs is a great choice. Abbey Tavern. This can be a favourite for a large amount of visitors passing through. There's typically a conventional music treatment taking place. The Cock Tavern. An actual local and a popular for the fishermen off the ships. The Guinness and the craic is great. For anybody looking for non-pub related activities there is plenty to do in Howth. Deerpark Hotel has 2 18-hole public golf courses on its grounds, together with a par 3 course, If you prefer golf. In terms of public golf courses get, you cant improve than this on a great morning. The views are amazing. On the driveway up to the golf courses, it is possible to stop off in the old castle and visit the Transport Museum. Their small but very interesting. A favourite for a large amount of people on a sunny morning is to simply take an hour or two, obtain a 99 (ice-cream) just walk round the harbor. There's a lot of activity to see and the seals typically make an appear-ance. There are lots of ships to enjoy.
