Which Diseases Can We Use CBD For?

CBD is a molecule present in cannabis and has a number of health benefits. Traditional Chinese medicine has been using cannabis to treat many different diseases for thousands of years. Unfortunately, many people are misinformed about this plant because there are not enough accredited doctors available for this type of treatment.

After a thorough search, the alpha-CAT team found nutrition consultants knowledgeable in the use of CBD as a nutritional supplement. This group, called NatureGoingSmart, is led by Viola Brugnatelli. Every week, they publish scientific articles on the impact of cannabis on our health.

What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is one of the cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. Its molecular composition resembles tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but unlike it, CBD has no psychotropic effects - these are more likely associated with THC and, more generally, recreational cannabis consumption.

However, CBD has the medically useful properties that we will introduce in this article. An interesting feature of this molecule is its very low toxicity, which means that it has very few undesirable side effects. Too high a dose in the worst case causes sedation (causes drowsiness). CBD shows very low affinity for cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), but when it binds to other receptors in the human body, such as the putative cannabinoid GPR55 receptor or serotonin 5-HT1A receptor, it induces many other effects.

Products containing CBD and intended for oral administration are mainly available in the form of oils, capsules or sprays that are applied under the tongue. The dosage of CBD is not yet scientifically determined and varies depending on the disease, but it is common to start with 1 mg CBD per kg body weight, then gradually increase the dosage until the effective dose can be determined.

CBD is also used in creams, ointments and other cosmetic products. These external formulations are particularly effective against local pain and skin problems such as acne or psoriasis.

There are also many types of cannabis with a balanced THC and CBD content. In such plants, the psychoactive effects are not as strong as in conventional cannabis varieties with a high THC content. Thus, the beneficial properties of CBD can be utilized more effectively. cbd gummiesCrew has recently developed a cannabis variety that has a higher CBD content than THC, called CBD Therapy.

Which diseases can we use CBD for?
When we examined the over 1,500 cannabidiol scientific papers that have been produced since Professor Mechoulam's discovery of this cannabinoid in 1964, we have noticed that about half have been produced in the past five years. This shows a noticeable increase in interest in the scientific investigation of this molecule with many fascinating properties. These are listed below according to diseases and physical problems:

Pain and inflammation:
CBD has strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be administered orally or applied directly to the affected area in the form of a cream.

Anxiety and depression:
CBD is an effective anxiolytic that helps to control mood and prevent depressive phases.

Epilepsy:
CBD helps some patients with severe forms of epilepsy, even those who respond negatively to conventional treatment, especially children.

Psychoses:
Cannabidiol has significant antipsychotic properties useful especially in relieving the symptoms of schizophrenia.

Acne:
CBD has sebostatic and anti-inflammatory effects on sebocytes in the human body, making it an effective means of treating acne.
