WHEW! What a ride the past few weeks have been!
Sorry I've been MIA... CRAZY is too mild a word to mention everything that's been happening since my last post...
Biggest event? I lost my job. Yep, that's right... after 10 1/2 years I got fired on Dec. 17th. Why? Because I expected to get paid for attending a staff meeting 3 1/2 hours away that was mandatory. And not just because I attended, but because I wasn't GRATEFUL for being required to stay for the 10 1/2 hour meeting during which the owner and head supervisor binge drank (and the owner then DROVE and I refused to get into the vehicle with him)....
Yep, I did get unemployment and the overtime issue is pending at the Department of Labor - btw, all of it is documented (and his admission) on email...
And you'd think that because I'm not working that I'd be bored, have all this free time, right? Um Nope, lol....
I got word that a small thrift store was for sale, and just spent the last two weeks going over the paperwork to see if it is profitable enough for me to buy (nope, it isn't)... then, I was dealing with the holidays (which were great!) and even got through New Year's Eve wonderfully even though it's my worst day due to memories (btw - if you don't have a memory jar to put notes of things you are grateful for into it every day, I highly recommend it... I missed the ball drop and opened up my jar instead and I really enjoyed my New Year's because of it for the first time in over 13 years! What it showed me was how life gets better!)
SO... off to getting more job applications out this week, updating the weekly requirements for the unemployment, working on figuring out how I'm going to make up for the $500 per month that I'm now short, AND been working on the dog business plan, BECAUSE...
I finally found a building for it....
Yep, that's right... double wide trailer house with 3 bedrooms, HUGE kitchen, laundry/mud room, decks leading to an already fenced yard, neighbors FAR away yet close enough to contact in an emergency, vet clinic on a corner of the property, HUGE garage that will make an excellent indoor dog park WITH room to grow in the back AND perfectly visible area to put up a banner for interstate traffic to see.... and only for $199,000 (my house is currently worth $130,000)... Hmm.... now to figure out how to finance the whole thing....
So, for everyone out there, cross your fingers, send up prayers and hope... I need wisdom to find all the details I need, a miracle to get the financing together, and strength to keep my hope up that this is where my future lies...
Oh, and back to the lost job thing... when I left, they also accused me of stealing the company checkbook - which was in their possession already - and instead of being stressed, I was RELIEVED and immediately stopped the binge eating that I didn't even realize I was doing.... yep, the future is bright and open...
Gotta run! Talk to you later!

Wow! How wonderfully amazing that you are able to feel so positive about what most of us would shudder and think is horrible. I am watching to see how this pans out.
When a door closes.......
Good luck!
All the very very best of luck and plenty of prayers coming your way. Wow your work situation sounds about as insane as mine.
It is incredible what some people think is ok business practice. I am definitely looking for a new job myself to get out of my insane asylum as soon as possible too. Before I become certifiable. ;-)
I really hope and pray something wonderful pans out for you! You have such a great can do attitude. Well done!
You are so positive! Can we bottle it? I am really impressed with you tangibly acting on new opportunities. :)
