Whew. Time to catch up

Okay.  I feel really bad.  Tim has been sick for a week, and I think I'm coming down with it.... Headache, hoarse, congested, blah.  Thought I'd better do a journal before I fizzle out!

We had a good Thanksgiving and Christmas.  My sil and one of my nieces caught a stomach bug, and were afraid to meet at my aunt's for the usual Christmas Eve dinner.  My uncle has Chrone's and his immune system is off, and my cousin has a 15-month old son --- they didn't want to risk exposing Uncle Vince and little Cash.  But, they came to my parent's house for Christmas Day.  On all three occasions, we cooked and talked and laughed.  Had a blast.  But I wore myself out - remembered to take camera, but forgot to take photos!

I did most of the Christmas shopping.  One day while I was shopping, Tim made sugar cookies from scratch, all by himself!  I had to give him a couple of pointers before I left, but the cookies were great!  (Ahem .... pointer, when I caught him putting the butter in the microwave on "high":  Me - what are you doing?  Him- melting the butter to make sugar cookies. Me - Did you read the directions. Him - no.  Me- You don't melt the butter. You let it sit out at room temp and soften.  Him - why can't I melt it.  Me - it will ruin the cookies. Read the directions before you make the cookies.)  Anyway, I came home to warm, wonderfully smelling sugar cookies, and a clean kitchen.  He did two batches, and he actually used my Christmas cookie cutters!  Tim's in trouble, now.  The way I figure it, if he can make sugar cookies from scratch, he can probably cook a lot of things!

i just fizzled out.  Headache is kickin' my butt.  Gonna take some meds and go to bed, now.  I do hope all of you had a wonderful Holiday season, full of family and love!  Nighty-night.

I loved the story about your hubby making sugar cookies. Sometimes I think they feign ignorance to get out of stuff! I do hope you won't get down sick, well, sicker. I hate having an acute illness on top of a chronic one. Yuck! Rest up. Love you.

Hi there country girl. Good to know you're alive and kicking. Not so good getting sick though. You're a strong lady so I don't think it will knock you down for too long. Hope not anyway.
So Tim has been holding out on you hey. Hiding his cookie skills. Although without your guidance they may not have turned out so well. Glad your holiday celebrations went well. We had a very enjoyable Christmas day with family and a couple of friends. Don't the years just flash by Nancy. It feels like several little lifetimes to make up the one. Then time starts to feel very limited and precious and we need to make the most of it. Hard to change things sometimes though. I'm really working on a better year. My life is a little mundane and repetitious.I guess a lot of people feel that way. Anyway I'm planning on shifting the energy somehow. Just lacking energy of course lol! Rest up Nancy and get yourself better again and have a great 2017. Love and best wishes to you Di

I'm a little late coming to this journal - I am in some kind of winter brain fog! Every day runs together and pretty soon a week or two has gone by. I'm glad you had a good holiday - I think it was a wise idea to avoid the people with stomach flu! There's a big outbreak around here - one of the schools had to be closed because most of the student body was sick with it. I am using hand sanitizer every time I leave the house. LOL. Good for Tim! My husband would definitely not know how to make cookies.
