Where were you

I know where I was.
On Septmeber 29, 1983 the newly hired agricultural skills development coordinator (that would be me) was sitting at the large conference table in the main offices of Rural New York Farmworker, Inc.  in Rochester, NY.  Joining me at the table were the seven regional managers from NY, PA, and NJ and the other coordinators that worked with me in the main office.
As the newbie, I looked around the table and my gaze stalled on the most beautiful, sparkling blue eyes and gorgeous smile I had ever seen.  I told myself that is the man I'm going ot marry.  It took a little whie, but I finally got him on board.  Do you want to hear our love story?
All good stories have a few cliffhangers and ours was no different.  I relentlessly pursued the regional manager from Warsaw, NY for months.  I guess I wasn't the salesperson I thought I was because it took him five months to ask me out.  (OK, so I wasn't buch of a feminist, I could have asked him out.)
March 6th arrived, we worked together in the Warsaw office on a project we had been developing but before the date we needed to go out ot his house and feed his dog.  Little did I know that his dog was actually a wolf hybrid and certainly didin't want anyone interferring with their nice friendship.  As I'm sitting at the kitchen table waiting for our date to commence "Fritz" decides that my face would be a nice appetizer.  Surprise, surprise our first date was spent in the emergency room having my face put back together by a plastic surgeon.
Blue eyes, smile and all I'm not so sure I want this deal to go any further so typical female that I was I refused his phone calls for weeks - three to be exact and then it was try for date number two.  Success!  Date number three, four, .... Success.
April 16, 1984 he asked me if I would marry him, my first response was... "are you serious,"  quickloy followed by a "Yes!" October 20, 1984 married that Regional Manager with the sparkling blue eyes and the gorgeous smile.
As I write this 28 years later I've lost my soulmate.  Instead of seeing heaven in his eyes I hope his eyes are watching me from heaven.  He has left me with four wonderful children and a gorgeous grand daughter and a desire to make hi proud of me by continuing to pursue the dreams we shared together.
Did you hear that crash ... it was the sound of my heart breaking.

Thank you for sharing your love story. It was amazing. I am so sorry for your loss. It has been almost a year since my husband died. I still miss him terribly, but I am much better than I was in the early days. I am glad you found this site. There are so many caring people here.
Hugs, Diane
