Where does life go?
I remember as a child thinking, wow if I ever can be a teenager. Then it was wow if I ever get married (took 3 tries to get it right lol). Of course no matter how I wondered if I could ever be a mommy, it was not to be. Luckily I lived through those problems, surgeries, and realized I am a great Auntie to my sister's kids, a good grandma to Jim's sons children, and of course I am a mommie to many critters in our home. I even played mommy to my younger siblings while my mother worked, there was no dad present and I was the oldest girl. Shoot I have even picked up some kids not even related and who call me nana gayle lol.
Life was hard growing up, didn't come from a good home life, but we stuck together, got through the hard times, even had some good times. I guess that life gave me the courage to face life head on, get a college education, bluffed when I was not sure about something and made it work. Shoot even my marriages were not the best, especially since I came dragging baggage of my past, but I survived those. Met Jim, who also had baggage...now we made a wild pair in the beginning, even got divorced but we survived, remarried and 40 years later we are still bugging the heck out of each other.
I survived rape, abuse from an ex, death of a child. Jim and I survived more lost pregnancies, alcoholism, divorce, almost homeless at one point, and heart disease decided to join us with Jim 20 years ago, but we did it together. I was healthy, rarely sick, so figured I could take on the world and take care of Jim without a care, I could do it and did.
But then my body got old, the mind didn't and still hasn't but diabetes decided it wanted attention, after all it ran in the family, why not me...I already had osteroporsis, dealt with that ok, figured diabetes would be a piece of cake. And I did do great, going on 16 years, with both diseases and still get out and work in the gardens for hours, home projects, have my own tools even...well of course body figures what the heck lets see if we can throw something else at this woman who "laughs at us" so Graves disease decided to join in...So far even that is ok, though I am now called the energizer bunny by many....go all day and crash at night lol.
What happened last week I am not so sure anymore how I shall survive....I had to file for medicare ROFL....wow now the government knows I am old lady and the body is falling apart. Instead of playing games, finding my inner child I have been filing forms, joining medicare site, adding in my meds, finding medicare advantage plans.....and here the whole time I thought I was still young, thought I would never get old, but yes it is true, even had to ask for the senior discount at KFC and my vet for the furbabies automately gave me a 5% discount for seniors.....what is this world coming to?
But I shall meet this head on as I do, with the same humor, confidence, determination, and tell it like it is attitude for after all, I have no intention of going anywhere soon, I think I am still needed on this plane. I plan on being around until I am 113 years old and then me and my Maker shall have a good discussion to decide if I shall continue life as I have or become some poor souls' guardian angel to teach them to be just like me ROFLMAO.
