Where Am I Going?

Well, I am still waiting for someone to respond to all the resumes I've sent out. I went to an interview 2 weeks ago, and thought it looked halfway promising, but so far, no reply. The only thing I have done my whole life is teach. I taught grades 1 & 2 in Maryland in the early 70"s. Then I got married and moved to NY. My husband was also a teacher.  When the time came for getting a Masters degree, we decided he'd get his, and I'd be able to stay home with our kids (who weren't born yet.) So then the kids came along- and they are the best.  Then my husband left and married someone he worked with. So I was left with the kids and no degree. For a couple years I taught piano, but you can't live off that. I was then lucky enough to teach music in a special ed. preschool-didn't need certification for that. Then in 1999 I got a job running a performing arts program for mentally retarded adults. It was my dream job, and I loved it. Unfortunately, politics interferred, and after 10 years at the job, they terminated me. That was in May and here I sit, still doing nothing. I really feel like such a loser. Both of my kids are away-Ron (31) lives in Spain, and Kristina (25) is finishing college. It gets so lonely here with both of them gone. I never, ever thought I'd be in this position.  I wish that my old director could see the position she has put me in. It wouldn't bother her, though-she has no idea what it is like to have to go to thrift shops and food pantries. I used to donate to them-now I have to make use of them. I don't know to do-I guess I've already writted at other times that I have lupus, fibromyalgia, breast cancer (in remission), so all my money goes to health insurance and meds. I don't qualify for help because they say that unemployment gives me too much to qualify for help. It's such a mess. Oh Well, I have to try to keep positive and hope that something will turn up. I didn't know I had so much to say.  I guess I should write more often. I hope everyone is doing well, and God bless all of you.     Kathy
