Where Am I?
I, now live in a senior apartment complex owned by a world-wide charity. This is thanks to my 2 sisters. After several bouts of illness, mainly trouble with my legs leading to me being scared to leave the house, they decided I needed a better place to live. Their search went into high gear when I was placed in rehab for fluid retention. Vickie checked assisted living places which proved to be way too expensive, then began checking for senior centers with lower expenses. She found this place and started getting the documentation to qualify,,,doctor expenses, income, and utilities. My rent here is according to my income and is only $25 more per month than the rent on the house. I pay for electricity, but don't have to pay gas or water. So, I'm living cheaper. But there are differences in living. With people so close together, Kit's having to get used to people passing by so close to our door. Plus, I have to carry him outside to do his thing. No walking in the halls for him. That's been solved by a mistake. You've seen to wire carts that "old" people have to carry groceries and other stuff. Well, I thought they were all the same size and when I found one, I bought it, only to find it was too small for anything. Or so I thought. With a cloth cushion on the bottom, its a great way to take Kit outside and he seems to enjoy it. Kit's adjusting to the place faster than I am. I guess its because of the problems I've had with the apartment. I'll get into that and the marvelous move in the next journal.

This is FANTASTIC Mike. Yes, we better have family to care if we are coping with a severe disabling illness that limits our ability to care well for ourselves. After the death of my husband I was totally clueless what I would face coping on my own while being too ill to manage well -- what a nightmare it has been.
I\'m glad Kit likes the place and his little, \'Got to go cart\':-)
Apartment living takes some getting use to. I work in them taking care of my clients, and they have expressed it takes getting use to. It is far better than having to go to a nursing home, where a person can get unhappy. I am so happy you can keep Kit, was worried about that. Hugs and hope to hear more.
Great to have your sisters there to help take care of their brother. I am so happy that you are allowed to have Kit there with you too. I\'m sure he is a real comfort to you. Glad you aren\'t alone any more. Can\'t wait for your next journal. Take care, my friend. Hugs and kisses. Deb :o)
SO HAPPY FOR YOU, ITS GOOD THAT YOU AND KIT HAVE A NICE PLACE, LOVE LUCY***
