Whensday
To All,
No, I didn’t fall off of the roof, in fact the sun was shining with all his might so I just concentrated on the ice dams and clearing the gutters. I’ve been very busy with work and weather issues, not to mention cleaning this house and haven’t really had time to journal lately. I also hurt my back while shoveling but it’s getting better.
Abby and I played a sort of game that I’ll call “My life is harder than anyone’s”. The game was a contest of sorts to see who could whine and complain the most convincingly. You won the game if the other person said “ Yes, You’re life is harder than anyone’s”. We both loved that game because we both loved to whine and complain. It’s pretty much my favorite thing to do. I guess I continued that game here when I was journaling. I was NOT looking for sympathy nor pity. I thought, in fact, that by sharing my trials and tribulations that I might strike a cord with others who then might not feel so all alone in this terrible process. I tried to tell my troubles in an amusing and engaging way to make them easier to read. I guess I failed. More than one person has asked if they were supposed to feel sorry for me. That made me sad, made me realize that I wasn’t coming across as I wanted to. Listen closely, no one can feel sorry for me the way that I can! It’s one of my favorite things to do and I have decades of practice. Abby was at a professional level as well. Our little contest was mostly a game, it gave us a chance to do our favorite things and gain recognition from another professional whiner if we did a particularly good job of telling our, oh so sad tales. I’m sorry if I didn’t explain it before and I’m sorry that I failed in my quest.
I like this place, even though the performance is atrocious. See my status? That’s what I seem to spend most of my time doing. This place is a place where we can be alone together. I think that’s worthwhile. I was just trying to make you smile. I’m nuts right? Trying to make grieving folks smile? Well, I thought it was worth a shot. Guess I’ll have to make a new plan.

PS What’s an ice dam?

You win, you\'re life is harder than mine, by a long shot. I don\'t think you whine, but you have a way to make us smile, for sure. Let the other whiners and complainers do all the stuff you do, and maybe they can win.

I think your current plan is working out beautifully. You always make me smile. I like the way you tell your stories. Don\'t change a thing.
I really like what you said about this being a place where we can be alone together. How true that is! I am so incredibly lonely, but if I didn\'t have this place, I dread to think how much worse it would be.

Thank You! Thank you so much!
Thank goodness you are OK. I was worried about you...and I look forward to your journal entries, they always made me smile. So please don\'t feel that you failed, because I thought your journal entries were very entertaining. Humor is the best part of life, once you lose that, there is not much left. I am glad the sun was shining and I hope it continues :) Take care my friend. Sending you a hug and please keep on writing the way you were, it makes me laugh and brightens up my day :) Take care,
Renee\'
Like you I have not been here lately. Have to say though your journals make me smile. Glad you have some sunshine. Take care.
hugs,

Thanks for the explanation of the ice dam. I have spent the last 22 years away from cold weather and before that......never anywhere that really had bad winters. Don\'t change a thing about your posts.......love the mental exercise. You have made a lot of us smile.........and we must be the hardest crowd in the whole world to make smile. Sorry we are all on this journey period but it\'s nice to be in good company on the worst trip in a person\'s life. Stay warm and think SPRING!!!!
hey Ken, don\'t change a thing....you\'ve made me laugh, smile and forget my problems.....just hate to see you work so hard to keep the snow and ice off your roof and driveway cleared.....hugs, Sandi
Ken, I get you. I like your posts. Sometimes I worry but now that I know the game I think perhaps I may give you a run for your money. I can be such an eyeore.
Watch out - competition on the way. PLUS I have woman issues and I know you can\'t beat that!!!

Please do not change your plan! Laughter is one of the greatest healers there is and you have a wonderful gift for sharing it! Maybe if the world could laugh more there would be fewer tears-possibly fewer wars, I would think it would be a bit of a trick to fight if you are laughing so hard you\'re crying. Keep up your fine work! Hugs&Love&True Prayer-pam
Hi Ken,
I always enjoy your posts and you definitely make me laugh or smile. I think you have a great sense of humor.
Linda
I\'ve always enjoyed your journal entries. On some of my worst days you would make me laugh or smile. Keep journaling....I always look forward to reading your posts.
Hugs,
Jean
If it is true that you started out to make us laugh you certainly accomplished that very well I look forward to reading your journals as they always make me feel a little better about my situation. Yes we are all in this together, alone but with each other to count on I am so blessed to have found DS and plan on staying around for a while yet. We here in the mid-west are supposed to get some warm weather next week so I will try to send you some so you can stay off of your roof. Diane
You are all so nice!! I am impressed! To tell the truth I started out to tell my troubles to Abby. To vent, to rage, cry and feel sorry for myself. Some where along the way I remembered Abby telling me that I could always make her laugh no matter how down she was feeling. She said that I had a talent. I decided to use the talent she thought I had to make others feel better, if only for a little while. I discovered that it made me feel better too! So I kept at it. Therapy for myself perhaps, entertainment for all of you. I thought it was constructive and that\'s what I wanted to do. I wanted to honor Abby by doing something that she would approve of. I guess, maybe, I was being silly but, there\'s value in silliness to.

Nice post, I have to go be alone at church now. I am feeling sorry for myself today. I don\'t want to go to Church today. I want to, once again, lock myself in this bedroom & feel sorry for myself. I am tired of hauling wood & pellets in the freezing temps, worrying about the future, having to take care of two houses and ove 100 acres. Having to be alone in this world. Having to sell our home of 30 years. How am I doing? See, I can whine too. Although I may do some \"Wine\" ing tonight. Take care of yourself, you know no one else will, (that was a good one) Val whining in TX
Oh......we\'re all a little nuts here.............you fit in quite nicely.........lololol..............
