When reason and discussion fail....
it's time to do some serious butt-kicking!! There was a time in my past when I carried a steel pipe on my motorcycle. It was suitable for, and very efficient at, smashing pretty much anything I wanted smashed whether it be objects or people. I am very close to ressurecting that old friend and laying waste to a rehab facility. After all our talking, meetings, hearing promises, and seeing some improvement, last night it all fell apart again. - My Beloved's mother's used clothes were in a pile in her closet (below the laundry bag we provided). - They mopped the floor around her bed with an ammonia solution in our presence. We had to open the window, 93 outside and the room was already warm. - Her water jugs filled with filtered, RO'd, and UV'd water were once again set aside in favor of their tap water that contains chlorine and who knows what else (we have several Superfund sites here due to the ground water being polluted with industrial toxins). - We have not received any updates or progress reports on her rehab therapy which we were told we would receive every Wednesday. - Last night she received only a small side of mixed veggies, some sweet dessert, and a buttered bun for a meal. The menu listed vegetable lasagna, but since nobody picked up her menu request form, nobody knew she wanted it. We have no idea if she's putting on weight or not. - In our meeting Monday we were told (again) that it is a restraint-free facility so she cannot have the side rails on her bed that she would like to have. Her roommate, who is able to move around on her own, has them, though. We just noticed that last night. - In our meeting Monday, I pointed out that her nurse call button had no clip, then found the clip lying on the nightstand. The director of nursing put in on and clipped the button to her bed. Last night, the clip was gone again. This thing is the same clip arrangement the visitor badges have, a plastic strap that snaps onto itself with a metal pincher clip on it. It does not just fall off, nor is it easily removed. - When the missing call button clip was pointed out, instead of replacing the clip on the existing call button, the CNA replaced the entire assembly with one that had a clip. The replacement was a few feet shorter than the original and it ended up stretched across the room from the plug on the wall, over the corner of her nightstand, to her bed. If the clip was pulled loose from the sheet, the button would fall to the floor a couple of feet from her bed. How flippin' blind and stupid are the people working (I use that term loosely) there? What kind of blithering idiots are they hiring and how flippin' blind and stupid is the management to not be aware they have a serious problem? When you have a patient who is there partially due to malnourishment, you FEED THE PATIENT PROPER NOURISHMENT ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE!!! Dear God!! Does the whole damned facility have to be retrained every day? Do we have to rent a room there and move in so we can ride herd and stand on these people 24/7? If we have to help these people do their jobs, we want part of their pay. We are approaching the time where we will have to start dishing out $133 A FLIPPIN' DAY for this mistreatment and neglect. We are tired of complaining to the blank walls that are management. It is time to take this to a higher authority and I don't mean God. We need faster results. Unfortunately, total annihilation of the place and its idiot, braindead employees is not the best solution although it would be a lot of fun and a great stress-reliever.
